I don’t understand Americans.

I appreciate everyone and their guidance. Thank you for that.

For everyone that got frustrated, I do apologize. Remember I am new to all of this. I don't have parents who taught me how to be a fan as a kid. My mates have never watched an English football game in their lives. My mates all laugh when I talk about English football. It's not so easy over here in the middle of nowhere America. That is why I love this forum and reading the posts. It gives me what I am lacking.

So I am from the States and I am a new Everton and EPL fan. I am excited to say I am purchasing tickets to the International Champions Cup this summer to watch Man U vs. Liverpool in Ann Arbor (an hour from my home). It will be my first ever English football game. Obviously I would prefer it to be Everton but I am excited still. My question is.. I want to enjoy the game so should I show up in my Everton Rooney kit or show love to one of the teams playing? If it's acceptable to support another side, which side? My gut says no to Liverpool but I need guidance! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to GOT mate. You've already made one good decision - supporting the greatest club in the world. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll fume, but it'll just make the trophies all the more sweet when they arrive.

As far as your question, as an American, since this is a friendly and we never get to see EPL teams play, I view these as more celebrations of soccer in the US and less about teams/rivalries. I'm sure you'll see all kinds of different shirts from various European leagues at this event.

Wear Everton proudly, and boo the RS loudly

Welcome to the Everton family, @Brent

A fan of Everton FC rooting for Liverpool FC would be tantamount to a fan of the Michigan Wolverines cheering for the Michigan State Spartans, so I'd say root for Man Utd!

Hope you enjoy the game.
