Qualifying for the Europa or Conference league: is it worth it?

Should we be concerned with qualifying for the lesser European competitions this season?

In a fans perspective absolutely, from a commercial standpoint not at all. Honestly if I was the owner of a club who qualified for it, I’d seriously consider either fielding extremely understrengthed squads, or if this will be punished (spurs and Wimbledon in intertoto cup for reference) then just forfeit the place in the competition. I’d rather the future and current finances be protected and a far less chance of relegation than on what from a non-emotional standpoint, a fruitless endeavour.

Yeah? Tell that too west ham, Chelsea, roma, olympiakos and soon to be palace.

I couldn't give a flying monkey's if it was called the "mikey mouse" cup and it was sponsored by netto. If it puts a end to the 32 year cup drought, i want to see us win things.

Its a European cup, its extra revenue, its extra games for squad players and its also a way to get back into Europe by winning it to get into the Europa league.

Moyes started throwing games as we were on the verge of CL, he wants the conference as he knows we have a chance of winning it.

That's what i'm telling myself anyhow, he's calculated the exact number of points required and is going for it. 🤪

Jokes aside i would rather be in a competition where we are head and shoulders above the opposition. Heaven knows we would probably do our best to flump it up somewhere, so why not give ourselves the best chance. Like you said, we just need to win something to get the monkey off our back, it doesn't matter what.

Exactly this. Win something, anything will do and the Conference is easier than the League Cup.

A whole generation of fans have never seen us anything. A trophy could be a catalyst for something bigger.

You can't deny timing in anything in life.
Squad is now in a proper rebuild imo compared to the false dawns over the last decade.
The Conference league would be an unwanted distraction and lead to desperate signings. Qualifying for Europe next season is a different story

Has everyone just got the 2 points mixed up which is affecting the poll.

Qualifying doesn't have a set date
Being concerned is asking if next season is to soon

It certainly feels worth it for Palace just now. Less so when losing at home to Larnaca in December.
Context is everything, this is our first ever European tournament and after the disappointment of demotion from the Europa League we just set out to make the best of it.
A team with a successful European history may not feel as enamoured by the thought of Europe's third string trophy which ironically, in this country at least, will be considered even more tin pot if Palace win it simply because " the likes of" Palace won it.
Positives; it will attract better players.
Negatives; it will have a damaging effect on Premier League performances and consistency.
It's a trophy. Who cares what people think, go out and win it

Yes, It would give us a decent opportunity to end this horrific drought, also that banner that Liverpool have up saying how many years since we won a cup winds me right up. Normally I don't care what they say or do but that one pisses me off.

Then what's the point of where you finish in the league? I get it's your opinion but you play the game to either win a cup (which gives you Europa & Conference leagues and they give you a solid chance of winning) or to win the league. We're not winning the league anytime remotely soon. If you think it's a waste of time then what's the point of the season?
