Pure Rumour - Heitinga to Inter £10m

Bad business in my eyes. You can't replace a player of his quality at such short notice with someone who is fully integrated into our squad and team patterns.

Who knows but personally think we should be keeping this fella when we're trying to build on our good start. Its so typical of Everton every time we take 1 step forward we take 2 steps back.

He did job certainly. But then you need Neville or Coleman at RB, limiting your midfield options.

The squad just needs more players.

We need quality and versatility, not just numbers. City won the league with the 2nd smallest squad overall...

I wasn't happy when we let Beckford, who'd had more than a decent first season, go on the cheap.

While that annoyed me, this will infuriate me. It would be an inexcusable transfer. Distin, perennial ****-up that he can be, is 34 and looked injured coming off against City. Heitinga is more than good enough to step into his boots if and when necessary, if we had good cup runs defensive cover will be essential. If Baines is injured or suspended, Slyvain will need to go to leftback, meaning Heitinga will definitely come in in that situation.
So Baines/Distin injuries will guarentee him a starting place; he will definitely be a regular sub when we need to close out games (like United) and even discounting either of those, he could force his way in on merit and easily stay there, as he has done in each and every season (eventually) since he came. He is usually one of those that really picks up second half of the season, he has given some truly heroic performances in defence, and is far too good a player to let go.

Hits Nail on head. He must be kept.

Why is everyone just assuming Heitinga is 3rd choice now? Maybe Moyes just thought Jags was the better choice for the United game. Doesn't mean he's gonna be 3rd choice all season.. Jesus people.

He has always favored Distin and Jags

Selling Heity would be stupid at this point. Both Distin & Jags won't be able to play the whole year and not have bad knocks the way they play. Heity will get his time just like last year.

yet again on twitter that spurs have made a bid ,no figures yet for johnny h tonight.twitter and itk agents on it its gas !!!

I think Moyes might be planning to ship JH out and bring in a younger player ( Dann? ) at similar cost but lower wage.

In fairness, if JH isnt looking likely to sign a new deal then it would make a lot of sense in the mid to long term. We don't actually have any centre halves between the Duffy age group and the Jags/JH 30 year old or so group.

Says Who? Tell Spurs to [Poor language removed] right off, he's not for sale.

i think johnny is for sale , hence how we tried to flog him to fenerbache . i think he will be moved on , moyes seems to prefer jags and distin as his first choice . shame because johnny impressed me in jags absence last year
