I think he'd prefer a more objective way to select them.

Only for the first two.

Then you can have a vote, and folk like this person making comments on the BBC site can add validity to the out come.

Incorrect, George Graham was born in Berwick-upon-Tweed very near to the Scottish border which might explain your confusion.

You are correct about him winning league titles with Arsenal but I was referring to the Premier League title he won in 92/93 with Leeds Utd, who became the first ever winners of the PL.

edit. She had said that George Graham was the first ENGLISH manager to win the PL, (he never did and he isnt), then that he won the first one with Leeds, (he didnt, nor did they). But lets have a vote.

It will honour key influential players, not squad players like Butt and Brown...

Giggs, Scholes, keane, Cantona, Rooney,
Schmeichel are definites...

The likes of Vidic, Pallister, Bruce, Ince, Kanchelskis, Yorke, Cole, Irwin will be on shortlists for consideration..
Andy Cole is an automatic pick at some point I'd think. Vidic and Yorke are more or less guaranteed too. The rest are all interesting because a case is certainly there but they aren't players who were ever the best in the league I don't think.

Surely we can have a vote with only qualified voters involved. Of course seeing how the media is packed with RS they'd be putting Lucas Leiva in before a single United player.

Thats the thing though. We could lob 20 to 30 players who would all be worthy as excellent in the next 10 minutes, but then you get into the middle ground of "decent". So a Hall of Fame with a Shearer, Lampard, Giggs Henry etc etc, will eventually have Mark Noble as well. Gives us a chance for a few I guess.

If they limit it to 5 or so a year they'll be fine. By the time they finish all the people from the 90s/00s they'll be far enough along that guys from the 10s and 20s will be plentiful. They should be able to keep it exclusive.

Not a fan of the jizzfest this is inevitably going to become if I’m honest.

The “we’ve got the most hall of famers” trophy.

Why only 2? Get a full 11 in. One each at minimum for the bug 6 or how ever many it is to make sure they include United. A smattering from the other clubs.

Aye, good observation.

The thing is Henry to me is a way better player than Ryan Giggs. So that would be an argument.

I think there's a real case that Henry is the best player in the almost 3 decade PL era. Do you think Giggs is in that discussion? And I just mean purely how good they were at their peak?

Genuinely asking, I didn't see 90s Giggs.

Giggs was some player early on and if he didn't have gammy hamstrings when he was younger he would have an even bigger reputation. He was seen as the premiership's first superstar and all the big foreign clubs wanted him.

If I had to pick between the two (Henry/Giggs) of who you would want in your team, of course it would be Henry, but Henry was with Arsenal 10 years? Giggs scored in every season of the PL for the first 21 years of it's existence. It isn't a simple question who is best, it has to be looked at as a whole.

Yes I suppose. And ultimately this doesn't matter as they'll both be included. I think having a higher peak matters. I'll always view Kaka and Ronaldinho as better players than Giggs even though they had 8-10 year runs as opposed to the 21. Longevity is impressive too but in a different way I guess.

Again it doesn't matter as we are literally splitting first in vs probably the second group.
