Just accept that Southall has a high average rating from hundreds of games, than Kanchelskis did from his two thirds of a season.

I was lucky enough to attend most of his home games with Everton and he was a consistently outstanding performer in a fairly average team for about 2 years.

The cup games against Stockport and port vale to name two must of brought some ratings down. Not so much Southall who had played about 2000 times before those games.

I also remember losing to 10 men of Newcastle and Coventry back to back. Quite disappointing. As good as kanchelskis was and he was... he wasn't a 9 or 10 each week as Southall was throughout 85% of the 80's

Thought about it lots and can't agree on one player. Some good names thrown up there though, Lineker, Kanchelskis and Southall would be there or there abouts.

Thought we were going by your model 84-89. He came here in 81. Thats roughly 85%. But it's still more than enough to trump kanchelskis.

Beardsley is a brilliant shout, one of the best players I seen play for Everton.

Cottee may well be our most under-appreciated player...ever. Best scoring ratio since Bob Latchford, only now finally with Rom is there someone with a shout to better it.
