Southall, Lineker, Kanchelskis, Martyn, Baines.

Tim Cahill was woeful for his last year-and-a-half, and Arteta for his last season. I'd have Jagielka, Lescott, Fellaini and maybe even Yakubu ahead of them if we're talking average ratings. Olivier Dacourt was great in his one season too.

Landon Donovan would be somewhere up there if loans are permitted.

If he played the required amount of games that is.

No sorry I didn't mean in terms of cash value.

I meant simply who'd put in the best consistent high quality shift for the Blues over their Everton career.

I'd had Watson, Steven, Coleman, Martyn, Ratcliffe and Snodin in my nearly list.

Rightly or wrongly I never took to appreciating Cottee. Maybe it was because for me he came to symbolise our downturn.

Wow though of you could combine Cottee's touch and intelligence with Rom's power in one striker....
Fair enough. I thought it might be consistancy related to value for money.

Cracking that. The RS must spew at the mention of his name the giant he turned out to be for us. Especially when he rubbed it in at the kop flicking the v's. Love it.
Yes two reds on my in law side of the family - I asked them what this sheedy was like before he joined us after we had pinched him from them and the looked down at the floor, and muttered he was ace , and it was a big mistake as they had seen him in the reserves = brilliant!;)

Well at least your in laws sound balanced and realists. If their lot were asked now theyd say " Hes one footed and s*ite...and weve got Can/Ibe/An Other coming through... so you can have him - NEA". Its in their NEA, DNA and always will be ;)

Paul Power is a great shout.

I'd also be tempted to say Norman Whiteside - 9 goals in 29 apps for us from midfield is a great record. I was gutted when he was forced to retire through injury, he was a real threat

No believe you me they are the most biased reds going - it was just so joyful when Sheeds came so good, I just told them how right they were about him!lol

Top 5 for me as per the OP's rules and basing '85-'89 largely on archives and hearsay:

1. Lineker
2. Southall
3. Beardsley
4. Ratcliffe
5. Cottee

shout out to Sheedy who just missed out.

Shreds is and was my all time favourite Everton player for the goals he scored which were awesome almost every time. But for the most part he was the luxury carried along by the hard work of Reid, Steven and Bracewell most of the time.
