Well that's a ridiculous turn around in the polls...

...some strong and well thought out opinions on here.

There should be another poll really, for those who haven't been happy with Martinez and how we've played this season (pretty much 99% of the forum bar 1 poster) :

Are you ;

A : happy with the way we played today and glad we changed from pointless backwards passing to a more direct approach (ala last season)

or

B : a plotter still hoping for a return to Sergeant Major Moyes and his agricultural hoofball

Something tells me that would be the most onesided poll in GOT history.

Barkley has been terrible all season. At first I gave him 'time' for all the usual reasons...young....back from injury, etc. but eventually I got to the opinion that he was not even trying to get out of his trough of 'bad form'. That was his biggest failing. Martinez has managed him very well ,despite the naysayers...he has left Barkley out when he didn't deserve a place, and made him wait for circumstances to provide him with another chance. The last couple of times Barkley has got a chance, he has obviously tried harder, but still does not look the player he was expected to be in this, his 'breakthrough season'. So hardly a knee jerk. He still doesn't look like the player we want/need him to be. So hardly a knee jerk.
Sticking him out on the wing isn't managing him very well, Steve.

You're overanalysing and complicating matters. The word was used in relation to about 5 people on here who have been posting since Martinez tipped up at Goodison in June 2103 and were (and are) relentless in their abuse of him...posting criticisms of him last season(!) and wanting him out from as early as November this season.

I've said it loads of time: it in no way is applied to the vast majority who have just lately started to believe it's right that Martinez leaves now.
Absolute garbage.

Many weren't sure about Martinez when he was appointed, but to a man they all enjoyed last season, but equally criticised the awful football of this season.

It's only you that's twisted that into some sort of long term agenda against the man, as you've applied your own one eyed logic and how your own weird mindset works.

It was giving him a chance to get on the pitch, Naismith was far more deserving of a chance inside. Martinez has tried very hard to make Barkley effective this season...its his job to do that and a difficult one. Sometimes, wherever Barkley played, it was like playing with ten men. Reputation means nothing in the Prem...workrate, producing the goods, and goals mean much more. And are you telling me that a player as good as Barkley is supposed to be cannot adapt his game slightly to playing out of position, because its the only way he gets in the team? Are we now making the same excuses for Barkley that we made for Bily?

Whether or not Naismith and Barry walk straight back into the team will have a huge bearing on our form over the next few games. We clearly play miles better without them, as we've shown today. I still don't trust Martinez to stick with a winning side and leave his favourites out, but if he proves me wrong and does it, then that will be a start. He needs to show he's learning from his mistakes before I can put my absolute faith in him

I agree that Barkley's been poor or average for the majority of the season. However Martinez should have either benched him or played him in his position. He's not a winger and playing him there until the point where he's completely drained of confidence was a poor move.

First league win at home since November

Won the same amount if games as villa now

Give the man a knighthood

There's a lot of bitterness here.

Cant you just be made up with the win?
