Barkley has been terrible all season. At first I gave him 'time' for all the usual reasons...young....back from injury, etc. but eventually I got to the opinion that he was not even trying to get out of his trough of 'bad form'. That was his biggest failing. Martinez has managed him very well ,despite the naysayers...he has left Barkley out when he didn't deserve a place, and made him wait for circumstances to provide him with another chance. The last couple of times Barkley has got a chance, he has obviously tried harder, but still does not look the player he was expected to be in this, his 'breakthrough season'. So hardly a knee jerk. He still doesn't look like the player we want/need him to be. So hardly a knee jerk.
So you don't think the fact the fans have been on his back - sometimes before he has even touched the ball - has had an adverse effect on him?

Not sure why people are being called plotters and knee jerkers to be honest.

They have every right to express their concern at such a horrific run of results which has seen us on the lowest points total for the games played.

Martinez is lucky he has the boss he has, he would have been gubbed at other clubs.

We said turning point after the west ham cup game, let's hope this really is the case this time.

My guess..

Some people need to pidgeon-hole posters, so they know to take the extreme opposite view of anything they say just in case they appear sympathetic to the posters viewpoint, therefore in their minds becoming the very misguided stereotype they were afraid of in the first place.

Not accepting of course that although the overall philosophy is different, many of their thoughts can still run parallel..

Or they are just self opinionated nob'eds mate... no idea tbh.

You're overanalysing and complicating matters. The word was used in relation to about 5 people on here who have been posting since Martinez tipped up at Goodison in June 2103 and were (and are) relentless in their abuse of him...posting criticisms of him last season(!) and wanting him out from as early as November this season.

I've said it loads of time: it in no way is applied to the vast majority who have just lately started to believe it's right that Martinez leaves now.

Well we have had 2 good results. When we are getting good results I am not going to be gobbing off that I want the Manager out. i up until this week have been saying how much i want a change so 2 games cannot really change that opinion. Like i say i will keep my mouthy shut for now.

14th(73m) place compare to 5th(86m) place. lost of live tv matches bonuses due to utter [Poor language removed] football we play, prize money and gate revenue lost due to league cup and fa cup early exit. easily top 15m mate.
So we are expected to finish 5th this season

I love the blind optimism from some people

Because of the generally boss feeling we all had last season...most forget there were folks on here slating Martinez at every turn.

Pretty sure they are happy we are in the state we are now just so they can say they were right on the internet.

Quite content in that the phenominominominal Coat & Shoes combo in the dugout has seemingly managed to locate his albondigas & mix things up a bit.

And goals coming from direct, distance passes as well (also known, in some quarters, as 'hoofballs', 'toeys' etc)?!?!?!? Who'd have thunk that.

Too early to say but, y'know, onward the crawl & so forth.

In think fans made excuses for him when he first returned from injury, and quite legitimately...the problems started when it became obvious that he was treading water and was avoiding involvement in most games. It was the apparent lack of effort which turned some fans against him. So again, I don't think it was aknee jerk from the fans, I think it built up the less that Ross seemed to want to do on the pitch. What you cannot do, if your'e Chelsea, Everton Leicester or any other Premier League team, is persevere with a player who is not contributing at least effort to the cause. Naismith, with a fraction of the talent Ross is supposed to have, earns a regular place because he runs and works all match for the team. Some semblance of effort from Ross(and he has certainly tried harder in the last couple of games) and the crowd would not be on his back. There is nothing more that Evertonians want than Barkley fulfilling his early promise, but to do that he first of all has to earn a regular start.
