Pochettino sacked

I'm very jealous.

Jealous of Spurs.

Poch was over the hill with his project there, always an eye on Real Madrid or Man Utd - would have left if they beat Liverpool in that final. The narrative become how Poch was overachieving, when he hadn't won a trophy for 5 years...

While we wait until things react catastrophic levels to change manager - Levy has made the decision to bring in the most decorated manager in the game.

Last season, when Mourinho was in the press saying he's desperate to get back to football, saying the Prem, saying he'd take a job at a team who haven't won trophies for a long time and rocking up to Everton games in his spare time - we should have moved heaven an earth for him.
Apparently Pochs off to Bayern Munich.

He's also left Chelsea, United and Madrid, his last three stops, in complete turmoil at the end of his time. It isn't far fetched to think he could do that again and a slice of bad luck here or there could mean that he wins nothing when he does.
He left Man Utd no worse off then when he joined but with three more trophies in their cabinet.

He left Chelsea in such turmoil that they where able to win the league the season after he left with basically the same team.

He left Real Madrid in summer 2013 after finishing 2nd in the league, losing finalists in the Copa del Rey and losing champions league semi-finals. Some turmoil that.

I only wish our club could experience such "turmoil"!

Chelsea got saved by Conte, United are well worse than they were 3 years ago now and Madrid not winning a trophy rarely ever happens. He hasn't left a club better than he found it in a long while.

He leaves clubs with more trophies in the cabinet than when he arrived.

The double standards I see from many opposition fans is laughable.

All the years we were coming in the Top 4 all I used to hear was 'but you never win anything' when we appoint a serial winner the agenda becomes 'Mourinho doesn't respect the project'.

The same experts that still try and tell me that Kane is overrated.

In fairness, I think most fans are intrigued if it will pan out ok. The Levy/Jose relationship I alluded to yesterday will obviously be strained at some point, most wonder when.

With all the current uncertainty regarding Silva, the fact that Spurs have snapped up Mourinho, severely limits our possible alternatives.

Good luck to them, they've acted quickly, and obviously have had him in mind for the past few months.

No interim or caretaker nonsense, a complicated man, but a proven winner.

I know its 2019 and people now pretend that finishing in the top four and playing in the champions league actually counts for somthing other then making the club money but it doesn't. They don't count as a trophy and they aren't a substitute for success no matter what sky would have you believe. A manager who has had access to that Spurs side for five years and not won a button is a faliure, a total and utter faliure.

Your entire argument presumes that Mourinho will somehow hurt the progress of Spurs long term. How could he realistically hurt them that much? At worst they'd go from a champions league regular that never wins anything to a Europa league regular that never wins anything but with a few trophies in the cabinet.

Your comparison of the RS to Spurs is ludicrous. In Klopp's first few mouths at the club he help them reach a cup final.

In his first full season he got them back into the champions league.

In his second full season he reached a champions league final.

Year three he won the thing and went to the last day for the league.

Thats actual, real success and progress that people can see. Anyone watching from day one could see the difference Klopp was making to them.

Pochettino has reached two cup finals in five years and has never once been a serious contender for the league title in all that time. He came second twice? Yes in season's when they were never going to win the thing because it was a clear one horse race, firstly againt Leicester then againt Chelsea (that club Mourinho supposedly ruined).

Of course short-termism isn't a prerequisite for success. Nor is blind faith in a long term project under a manager who hasn't won a button in five years with a quality spurs side that was capable of so much more then they have delivered.

The amount of utter and blatant contradiction in this load of wham is exhausting to read and I'm sure would be even more exhausting to properly respond to.

Serious question: When was the last time he managed a team with a smaller budget than the presumed one he'll get at Spurs?
Not saying you shouldn't be optimistic as it seemed Poch had gone stale over the last 10 months or so but Mou, like Guardiola is only used to managing the top 2 highest spending teams in their leagues. Not sure he'll get any where near that with you so any success he does get in terms of trophies will be very impressive.

It's not a double standard because I genuinely don't know that he will win anything at Spurs. At United he won the League Cup (if that's all you're looking for then you might he in luck) and the Europa League. The Europa League win included wins over powerhouses St. Etienne, Rostov, Anderlecht, Celta Vigo and Ajax in final that they won despite being completely outplayed. His best season at United in the league was more De Gea than tactics. So unless you're going to find the best keeper in the world, get amazing draws in a competition you aren't even likely to be in or accept winning the Carabou Cup I'm not sure trophies are coming your way.

I personally think Mourinho is done. He hasn't had a team playing consistently well since the last Chelsea title he won 5 seasons ago and he hasn't made good signings despite spending bucket loads in that same period. And that's why I'd worry about how he leaves the club at the end. Because I think adding to the trophy cabinet is far from guaranteed but pouring gasoline everywhere and lighting a match in 3 years or so is much more likely.

And Kane has been below his best this season. He will be back no doubt but he's way out of form currently.

That doesn’t fit the narrative. Let us wallow in misery over something that has absolutely nothing to do with us again like we did when Leicester won 9-0 the other week.
