Genuine question. Where do Everton 'belong' in the big scheme of things?

I have a bite boys and girls. You're on an Everton forum mate, where do you think we belong. I think we are where we should be at this moment in time difference is we don't keep spunking hundreds of millions to achieve it.

One of my good friends is a Tottenham fan and we have a £10 bet every season on who finishes above who. It's been so close that we normally just double or quits, don't think any money has ever exchanged hands haha.

Without a serious invester, 4th is an achievement. Without sounding like a Kopite. We can't compete as good as we would like...

Not biting, just interested. Many (not all) Spurs fans think we should always be 'top 4' but realistically i think our regular 5th places are pretty respectable given the size of our ground, turnover & wage bill.

As for spending 'hundreds of millions' it all depends whether you are talking net spend or not. ENIC have a net spend of £35 million in 13 years - £2.7mn a season.

Again, genuine question, what is EFC's NET spend in the last 13 seasons?

If he doesn't get top 4 he be sacked before 15-16 season starts, I think he be out the race for 4th by Christmas

Fair enough. We all know that 4th place is the holy grail for the Sky generation so you may well be correct.

Wage bill is a much better indicator than net spend on how a team should be performing and their financial strength.

Yours probably dwarfs ours, I would have thought. I wonder how it compares to Arsenal's, come to think of it.

EDIT: According to tsmplug.com, in 2013, there was a £27m difference in our annual wage bills. Ours was £63m, yours was £90m.

Ours is the 6th highest in the league. Which is why anything above a 6th place finish could be regarded as 'out performing'.
