Players you got it totally wrong about

I disagree.

I dont think we were totally to blame, it was a little him as well IMO.
I don't remember him forcing a move, Moyes just wanted rid. Perhaps he was arsing round in training - I wouldn't be surprised - but then he always was a bit flaky off the pitch. Class on it though, and proved it as soon as we got rid on the cheap. I remember him being unceremoniously dumped after a good comeback against Liverpool and Stoke, scoring the winner in a 1-0 win. Then never to be seen from again.

The real downfall came with that injury at the start of 08/09 at Spurs away. We would've got another 20 goals out of him I reckon if not for that

I think he deserved a payrise after being one of the best seasons a striker has seen at Everton for some considerable time.

I heard a few things, he was being a total bell behind the scenes, asking for a pay rise and just being a general arsehole.
Fair enough then. He never was a 'Moyes signing' was he? The kind of players Moyes usually stayed away from. I remember being absolutely over the moon when we signed him, he was the striker I wanted us to sign. Rarely if ever do Everton sign the players (or give you the managers - I got that too) you want.

Yep I was stunned when we signed him and that first season just a joy to watch. Only bettered by Jela last season. I really thought we had a player. I miss them both.

Yakubu - Post injury, in his last season at the club i really thought he was gonna be able to get back to that pre-injury form, i guess he did at Blackburn but I thought he would have been able to do that again here.

Niclas Alexandersson. I thought he'd be great. I seem to recall him having a good pre season friendly, and getting injured early in his Everton carrer, maybe it was in that friendly?

remember looking at what he had done before and thinking he would be really effective even if he wasn't the most exciting of wingers and we had to accept it was what we needed. would have preferred someone who was totally ineffective but exciting in the end

just out of interest does anyone remember really believing that John Oster was going to be 'The new Ryan Giggs' or 'The Welsh George Best'?

Thought Tobias Linderoth was going to be a good player, dearie me he did more pointing than Phil
And that's saying something.

A couple for the older one's, remember when we signed Mickey Walsh from Blackpool after he won the goal of the season, turned out to be utter gash. the there was a player named Dave Clement (think that's how it's spelt) I thought who the [Poor language removed] is this fella, he turned out to be a great signing for us.

With you on both of those. Clements - can't think of any player who was manager of his country team while being just a standard player in his club team i.e. not player/manager or player/coach!
