Peter Beardsley. Knew he was a good player but after having been over there for years I just knew he'd be turd for us. Turned out to be one of my favourite players from the early '90's. Class act.

Joe Parkinson, though he was just another mike walker signing, turned out to be the best center mid we've had here since the 80's, if only that injury hadn't happened :(

think we got him for like 200k or something too

A couple for the older one's, remember when we signed Mickey Walsh from Blackpool after he won the goal of the season, turned out to be utter gash. the there was a player named Dave Clement (think that's how it's spelt) I thought who the [Poor language removed] is this fella, he turned out to be a great signing for us.

Not me, but on here, and Kipper Victor had vast criticism in the past - great target man with the ball played to his feet - got over his injuries {I hope } and maybe produce more for us in the future I always seen him as a youngster his ability to shield the ball back to goal & link the midfield up, & have the pace to be a handful not much cop in the air though - needs the ball on the deck may suit the Martinez way of playing if he can stay fit, but we do need Jelly to hit form & get in another striker - Naismith does not make the grade IMO.

Dave Clements was first one I had to google. does sound like a cracking player but never heard anyone chat about him before.

Legs like tree trunks Dave Clements was past his best , but a class act served us well great passer of the ball also we had Colin Todd from Derby who did not do as well as Clements!

I remember my dad and his mates being very excited about getting Colin Todd, but I don't remember how he did

I remember when we signed Van Den Hauwe and I thought he was a yard dog and replacing one of my first heroes John Bailey, a real footballer. can't argue he was a yard dog any more and did score the winner against Norwich. still would have loved to have seen John Bailey as a regular in the 84/5 team though

Ah the original psycho

Darron Gibson. Christian Benteke. Probably Dale Jennings. About fifty others too.
if we talking about getting it wrong with players at other clubs I was insistent few years back that Bale was a one dimensional flash in the pan

Slightly left field, and misjudged in the other way, but for me, Norman Hunter.

He signed for Bristol City when they got into 1st Div in late 70s. Tagged as "Bite yer legs", the locals were expecting as such. But he was actually a quality player. Hard as nails, but his left peg could charm snakes. Pretty much kept them up for 3 years.
