Players salaries

This will be a good thing. Third-rate nonentities making more in a few days than a nurse earns in a year is a disgrace.
Remember the kick offs over GP's salaries increasing a bit a few years back ?
Yet no one moans when, I don't know, let's say Danny Wellbeck is trousering a yearly GP salary per week.
We stomach it as fans and we know it's wrong, but we want our teams to be successful.
I just trust Everton to do the right thing and show up some of these gobshite clubs for what they are.

But not every player earns 400k a week.

Some players earn 10-20k a week, now dont get me wrong, its still a LOT of money, but the further down the leagues the less money there is.
LeagueS being the plural. If you literally just did the pay cut in the top league and maybe Championship it would probably pay the salary for almost everyone else. The money at the top is obscene.

Government should sort this out anyway. Raise income tax, capital gains, inheritance and all the others on the wealthy. Not just footballers. Alongside a massive recruitment drive at HMRC. Make tax evasion a crime with serious jail time. Also long sentences for accountants and bankers that facilitate it.
Finally, make the Isle of Mann and the Channel Islands counties of the UK. They can choose to be part of England, Wales and Scotland. Would put a stop to their tax haven status in days.
Maybe there could be a separate levy on PL clubs wage bills that is to be used for lower leagues and grassroots football.

With government bail-outs only paid as a loan, and only to companies who pay tax (i.e. Virgin).

Premier League Football should be hanging its head in absolute shame at the moment. Unforgiveable that players are still being paid full whack as clubs furlough caterers and cleaners.
Even Tory MPs saying it's a disgrace that Tottenham have furloughed it's workers saying they should get their players to pay their wages.
Time for these players to stand up and be counted. The silence is deafening.

While I agree with the sentiment, hearing it from politicians will never not be funny. They should stop using tax payers money to claim on 2nd and 3rd homes before coming after anyone else's money. They're so morally bankrupt they don't even see it themselves.

That said, cut the salaries by 70% and give it to important stuff until it's over.

Good to see the PFA getting involved, though i'll be surprised if player wages being deferred is done on a 'case by case' basis by the PFA as appears to be the assumption with Dan Roans tweet. In my opinion, it will either be a blanket recommendation from the PFA that all of it's members defer (which appears unlikely), or none of them will and clubs will be forced to negotiate with all players individually without the PFA's endorsement.

It's a difficult one because neither party will want to be seen to be taking advantage of the situation to 'make' on the deal.

Not being funny but the most reasonable thing to do is for players to receive no more than there outgoing bills (mortgage etc) plus the 2500 a month or something along those lines...
They need to be able to live, not live a life of luxury, just like the rest of us
