ANYONE should pay 75p for every pound earned over 200000 until the crisis is over regardless of whether a footballer or banker or whatever else.

All the usual complaints that talent will go elsewhere if you tax so much is irrelevant during a lockdown.
So earn 200,000 get 50,000 is that what you’re suggesting?

Footballers: I have no idea why we’re being scapegoated for all of this

Also footballers every single day on social media:

Personally this is down to individual club and all their employers to sort out. Also, believe this has come at a very convenient time just as banker bonuses come in, indeed banks are being brought kicking and screaming to offer some meaningful help to those who are financially struggling due to the current crisis we find ourselves in.
And of course if we had a fair and proportionate tax system this would not be such a issue. In short a sinister attempt by a government minister to look over there, not here.

I think the reason football players are coming in for such stick is because they are the face of the game.

The public at large are seeing society as we know it close down.

They are seeing people in their thousands, often their friends or relatives or friends of friends and relatives, becoming very ill or actually dying from the plague.

They see frontline NHS staff, supermarket checkout girls and shelf stackers, food delivery drivers and others literally risking their own wellbeing to keep some semblance of normal life going.

They are seeing a whole raft of events like Glastonbury in June and Wimbledon in July rightly cancelled.

Yet in the midst if it all one organisation is holding out, coming up with one cockamamie plan after another, from holding a behind closed doors tournament in Birmingham to moving the circus to China, in order to complete a season to uphold “the integrity of the game”.

The Premier League.

What a load of twaddle.

Imagine being worried about the “integrity“ of a game when we are in the grip of a plague which has turned our society on its head.

The public see this.....and they know that what the PL is calling “integrity“ means they fear losing pounds, shillings and pence.

But as very few of us know the identity of the men bleating about the “integrity of the game” the public ire is directed at the names they do know...the players.

While I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on the faceless spivs at the FA, I can't agree that the players are possibly facing criticism because of the behaviour of said spivs at the FA.

How many of the players in all of the squads in the Premier League have come out and said they would voluntarily take any sort of wage cut even when they could see the blue collar workers at their respective clubs being stitched up AGAIN. It's like Austerity being repeated with those who can least afford it being the ones made to pay for the lifestyle of those at the top.

Of course there will be players who donate to charity come rain or come shine and give their time for good causes, but it is the visible lack of compassion from most of the players with regard to their less well off colleagues at their clubs. The RS are a shining example of this and are taking public money to fund their groundsmen etc after showing record profits last year, yet their pampered stars sit at home and are paid in full.

It bloody stinks. If the FA or the players are unsure of how to act during these difficult times then maybe they should contact Steven Naismith for some practical advice.

How do we know they arent, at least so.e of them, doing it privately?
Perhaps the rest of the players are waiting for the crisis to blow over before they make up their minds to donate some of the multi-million pounds of salary they are currently receiving for their socia; media posts.

Knowing a few nurses and paramedics I know they wouldn't go for it. These people arnt rich they are just getting by and they work hard. Should druggies give the money they spend on drugs to the nhs? Good luck with that
Just proves theirs no easy answer unfortunately..
Me personally I think every drug should be legalised but that's a discussion for another thread haha

I'd agree about the drugs with the money raised from selling it legally going in drug rehabilitation, drug prevention programmes etc.
But still think these multi millionaires but just footballers contributing more to the NHS while this is still going on

What??? Their wage is their prize money!
I think you'll find they get paid for entering competitions (top players) plus sponsorship deals. In the bigger picture footballers are not the highest paid sportsmen....just for clarity. Really can't be arsed if they are docked wages. BTW did the TV deals include acts of God,do the clubs still get paid if the games are played or not?

Another day, another deafening silence from the PL, the players and the PFA.
These greedy, uncaring, self-important spoilt brats as expected, continue to blame everyone for daring to question them.
Words fail me.
