Players salaries

Im not sure what you mean.

I personally know several “high paid professionals” who have either been made redundant or furloughed. The 80% furlow has a far greater impact on them than a footballer losing 30% of their salary.

You are really suggesting we should be worried about any of the players in the top two divisions losing 30% of their salary ?

Calvert Lewin was on about £20k a week when he wasn’t even scoring for us.

If a 30% pay cut would cause financial hardship as a Prem or Championship footballer then that’s on them I’m afraid. I’m more concerned about the groundsman on £20k a year who may not be able to pay his rent.

I'm not talking about them being furloughed - this is about them being guilted into taking a pay cut when the clubs can afford not to cut them. We are allowing the very rich off and attacking generally normal working class kids who have made some cash. And that's ignoring those on the £1k or so a week who have a mortgage and family.

So do you not agree with millionaires taking a pay cut ?

Find it bizarre that you think people earning on average £2.6m a year aren’t “very rich”.

Doubt there will be many if any golf, tennis tournaments this Summer are golfers and tennis pros going to give up a percentage of sponsorship deals etc.

I agree with most of what you say, but I think it's important for highly paid stars to set an example and they have failed woefully in this respect. In this, they have been bolstered by the blatant self-interest of the PFA run by a despot who is paid over £2 million per year.
One other point: If a club is not in the secure position that Liverpool and Tottenham are, then players effectively paying non-playing staff's wages does actually save the taxpayer money and therefore helps the NHS as well as helping the club to survive.

What this has done is shown how badly run the whole game is run in England ;-(
I agree that the PFA and that playing games and not allowing players to break ranks to aid was'nt good but all clubs should be covered by the FA to pay non playing staff as well as playing staff salaries if issues arise as the FA and leagues should be doing detailed controls of every club to ensure they are run properly and within means !

However its not a highly paid football players responsibility to pay for the NHS even though this corona virus as its the government of the country to pay for it ;-( Otherwise if it happens whats next if there's a flood in winter in Yorkshire, the footballers need to pay for it, the refugees from Syria or whatever other wars etc

Players do charity work and aid local charities in their own way I m sure and would hope all do at Premier League clubs but when a member of a Government comes out and accuses them of not helping its bad :-( Not all politicans in the UK are in London at House of Commons so why did'nt they give 30% of their salaries? Ok its not as high as a footballer but would be more respectful

They didn't. He was asked a question about footballers by a Journo. he just gave an answer

But he answered it and said what he said :-( He should have said his the Health Minister and there to talk about what the NHS are doing to deal with issue and its not his place to say what private companies ie football clubs are doing

Footballers (in the PL certainly) could easily choose to take a pay cut and help the NHS and/or non-playing staff at their clubs. They choose not too and hide behind the ridiculous argument put up by a multi-millionaire crook at the head of the PFA.
You are quite correct that it's not the responsibility of players to fund the NHS and they are making it very clear that have no intention of doing so.
PL players are greedy, uncaring, self-important spoilt brats. And that's the polite version.

They’re not. But hey, I’m sure you feel better for feeling morally superior and that’s what’s important to you.
