Player ratings vs Liverpool

Am I the only one who really wasn't impressed by Naismith? I felt the goal is the only reason Moyes didn't take him off sooner- In the second half when his touches got poorer and we lost creativity I really wanted to see Oviedo Left, Coleman Right, Hibbo RB.

To be honest mate i think his performance today was very underated.... he worked his nuts off goig forward and tracking back, he hurried their back and never let them rest and he scored a goal... couldn't really ask much more of him.

Didn't think Phil was too bad today actually. His 'dive' was a wee bit embarrassing though like..

Also think some of these ratings on Gueye are harsh too. I think it's mainly down to the fact that he was noticeably not as effective as Mirallas, but I didn't think he was "useless"..
I was just about to post that I must be the only one on the forum who thought Gueye looked alright. As you say, comparing him to Mirallas, who was the best player on the pitch while he was on, is harsh.

Howard 5 - should have done better with the goals and quite a few poor clearances and goal kicks.

Coleman 8 - had a really good game for me today. gave us an outlet on the right and was positive throughout, his end product has improved and also did a good job on sterling in the first half.

Jagielka 7 - some good blocks and tackles today and in the main done well against Suarez.

Distin 6 - didn't do anything wrong but wasn't quite as solid as Jags at the back today.

Baines 7 - missed Pienaar today, got forward well though and playing behind gueye for the second half probably stopped the lad from getting an 8.

Naismith 7 - worked really hard today and got his goal. some good link up play with coleman on the right aswell.

Osman 8 - has taken a lot of slack this season but playing alongside neville in midfield hasnt helped him. when gibson comes back i can see him having a very good season. did everything right today and its about time he scored against liverpool aswell, motm for me.

Neville 7 - his best game so far this season for me. kept a cool head and passed it simple but effective.

Mirallas 8 - probably would of been a 9 if he had stayed on the pitch for the full 90. wasn't fazed at all for the game and was clearly up for it, got stuck in and was excellent when running at there full backs, exciting player.

Fellaini 6 - didn't have the best of games by his standards. saying that he was still a threat and brought others into play well, maybe he wasnt 100% today.

Jelavic 5 - was poor for me today. had a couple of opportunities to have a shot but took a touch too many on a few occasions. worked hard though.

Decent performance and disappointing not to win but important that we didn't lose!

Harsh ratings i'd probably add 1 on to everyones! Agree with Osman man of the match and that Jelavic was poor - really poor actually, thought Distin was shaky too against Suarez but suppose didn't do too badly overall. Baines and Jags really are top class, Fellaini as well thought he did well for first game back and to be fair Neville kept ball a lot better this week. Second half we lacked creativity without Pienaar and Mirallas but played some good stuff - like the look of Coleman at right back. Overall positive performance especially after such a dreadful start and probably would have lost this game in past but we're not losing games at the minute so still confident we can have a good season and hopefully challenge for top 4. Could do with getting the 3 points at Fulham next week - think we will, especially if Gibson and Mirallas are back and Jelavic puts in a better performance!

Yeah but we can't afford him as a passenger until he gets up to speed. He's not good enough for a league this fast paced is the truth of it. Sell him to the continent and he'll probably be a player but not in England.

People were saying that about Ossie until this season. Given Allen gets creamed over for them for his supposed Xavi like performances, Ossie was the best midfielder on the park today.

Howard 6

Distin 7
Baines 8
Naismith 6

What a teamspirit, so proud to be an Everton fan. No money in the world can buy the spirit we have...

Howard 5 – Poor for second goal – it seems to be a regular occurrence when he gets caught with his weight going backwards thereby unable to react when the ball goes in a different direction from the one he is expecting.

Coleman 8 – thought he was excellent today, still not the finished article but let’s remember how much he cost and how much he’s improved in his time here.

Jagielka 8 – Maintaining his good form – with him in this form and the return of Gibson in front of him we should be more difficult to score against.

Distin 6 – looks less confident than he was right at the beginning of the season, but solid enough.

Baines 8 – not as effective without Piennar but a very classy performance, his stature round the pitch is growing, no longer looks like a shy school kid – I get the feeling he is beginning to realise how good he is.

Naismith 7 – Great timed run for his goal, and much better all-round play, perhaps he is coming to terms with the Premiership

Osman 8 – Best performance from Osman for some time, looked a very different player to the player at QPR last week

Neville 6 – Dive apart no mistakes and he did what he can do to the best of his abilities – problem is he slows us down and his passing is very predictable – nevertheless showed the spirit required when 2-0 down

Mirallas 8 – Really growing into an excellent attacking, speedy skilful player with an excellent attitude, could be another great signing by Moyes. Badly missed in second half.

Fellaini 6 – Given his lack of fitness I thought he did ok today, never gave up but the sharpness and surety of touch was missing. Also got in the way of Jelavic twice from two decent crosses.

Jelavic 6 – At least he never gave up and got himself into decent positions, on another day he might have scored from his header and pounced for the second goal. Looked in good position from two crosses that Fellaini managed to get in front of him.

Gueye 4 – a lad that everyone wants to do well but sadly missing the pace and decisiveness that is required at this level.

Mirallas was man of the match.

I'm probably too drunk to do a rating out of 10 for everyone.

I thought Jelavic, Distin were both poor. Neville was ok-ish.

Gueye was ****e when we came on, looks like he is running through honey.

I'd give Fellaini a 7. It wasn't his most dominant performance but he makes the ball stick, gives us a platform to build on and was always occupying two of there defenders, creating space for others. Liverpool went three at the back and brought on Coates because of that presence.

I didn't think Neville was all that bad. His legs have gone so he can only play to a certain level nowadays but going by his standards I think he played to his maximum today. I can understand Tubey's criticism of him not looking for the ball in certain situations because I can see it myself, but I think it's a physical thing more than anything. His legs just can't do it anymore. All in all though I'd say he made himself available enough throughout the game and kept possession for us.

It was a decent performance, about what I'd expect from us with the lineup we had out. We've done well not to crumble after going behind the last few weeks. Very pleased how Mirallas looked to impose himself on the game rather than shying away, he could make a huge difference to us at home if he keeps that attitude for every match.

What surprised me most though was how poor Liverpool were. Suarez aside they looked very ordinary considering what they've done to us almost every derby for the last however many years, easily dominating midfield and being patient in possession at the back. They had a little spell at the beginning of the game, but once we started applying pressure high up they couldn't keep the ball at all. Hopefully they won't sign the whole world in January.
