Player ratings vs Liverpool

He's never going to stand out for taking players on, scoring a 30 yard smasher etc. what I thought he did well today was offer an outlet, hustle, kept the ball and gave it simply. Let me ask you this- did you even really notice Gerrard playing today?! (Apart from that ball for Suarez goal) I think that was down to Neville being on his case the whole time.

like I said not a world beater but did the leg work to keep us competitive in the middle.

Just really think people label certain players and wear the opposite of blue tinted glasses.

He did well second half at shifting the ball from Coleman to Baines, whenever one of our full backs ran into a brick wall he came over, stopped us losing posession by taking the easy ball and passing it infield so another player could spray it out to the other wing.

He must have done that about five or six times in the first twenty minutes of the second half.

Well yeah, moving the ball from one wing to the other when you're in the centre is kind of a necessity. Not really something worthy of note.

He didnt do anything well, he didnt do much wrong tho, he was a 7, maybe a 6.

Nobody is saying he played well, most are saying he did alright, you appear to be the only 1 giving the fella a hard time.

But then, I did give Howard a 1.

I've gave the same rating to Jelavic and Distin, so I'm hardly bullying Neville am I? ^^

Gueye was the worst player on the pitch, Jelavic was next, then Neville - I don't think that's an "out there" opinion, so all I'm asking is for someone to tell me what Neville did well so I can keep an eye out for it.

At least ArtetaFan above has attempted it. Regarding that, he did pick up from the full backs but his use of possession afterwards was sub-standard. And he hid from play in the middle of the park and from set pieces. I just hope people who watch it back tonight keep an eye out for that because he did it all day.

Why get involved in this thread the . Hate when people post to say that a thread is silly, plenty of other threads pal.

I didn't say the thread was silly, there has been plenty of decent discussion in this thread, i simply posted my opinion that giving players some arbitrary rating out of 10 is silly. Which it is really, i mean what does giving a goalkeeper a 7/10 actually mean ? How do you compare that to a 7 out of 10 for a left back ?

Magaye Gueye is a player who needs a good run of games to do well I think, instead of being one of those who just turns up and does boss. When he had a little run in the first team on last season he got better with every game.

Unfortunately he has no pace mate and never will, which means he'll never make it as a Premier League player.

If he was a central player it'd be a different story.

Organisation for second goal was awful and no one got near it.That said we did excellent to comeback and Marrelas is a growing force and we lost a lot when he went off. Oviedo looks like he is going to come into team reckoning in the coming weeks.

Yeah but we can't afford him as a passenger until he gets up to speed. He's not good enough for a league this fast paced is the truth of it. Sell him to the continent and he'll probably be a player but not in England.

I actually thought Gueye was doing alright when he first came on. Some nice touches, a couple of decent runs and some decent link up play with Fellaini and Baines. And then, rather than work himself further into the game, he went **** and could barely control the ball.
