Player ratings vs Liverpool

Also, quite surprised at some of the low ratings here. Anything less than an 8 for Jags is mad, he was very solid at the back today despite being under a lot of pressure on the break.

It was just how he got away with tugging Sterling over. He got caught flat and he was arguably lucky to escape red for it. Otherwise he was our star performer with Osman and Mirallas and basically gets an 8.

And I disagree entirely - I thought we started abysmally. The atmosphere was flat and we showed no adventure whatsoever. We didn't start playing at all until they scored. We got caught out for the second and we were already in the ascendancy when that went in, but for 20 minutes we were lifeless.

We have to give Suarez a lot of credit for firing us up.

He throw himself in front of a shot from a RS player towards the end was top class defending.

He's had worse games (hence why I'm not giving him a 1 and I'm scoring him on par with Distin and Jelavic) but to say he played well is just a bad lie. He ran about a bit towards the end of the first half but didn't do anything notable. If you watch it on Match Choice tonight, just watch the amount of times he shirks responsibility at throw ins, set pieces and general play by hiding behind a red shirt. And that's the captain!

Honestly lad you are talking broken biscuits.

What ones?

See the way I've described reasons for my opinion like... it'd be nice if you did the same. :)

I get you don't rate Neville, I think we need to replace him but at this moment in time with the injuries to Gibson and lack of other bodies he's our best option. To give him a 4 on today's performance is not judging him on today- it's because of a pre conceived idea of how he'll play.

i normally respect your opinion but a 4 is way off in my opinion. If that was the first time you saw him play and he didn't have Neville on the back of his shirt you would have given him more.

Also anyone who wants to be taken seriously when they do ratings- giving a 1 makes it lose any credibility in my eyes. To get a one you would have to be pretty poor and give away a brace of own goals

OK then, Gueye 3. Doesn't really change the overall point - he was very, very bad.

And I completely disagree with you, I judged it on todays performance. He was no better than Distin or Jelavic. I've provided reasons as to why I've scored him that way, but nobody has provided reasons as to why he should be scored better?

His horrible crosses (foot like a golf club), lack of pace (not tracking Shelvey or indeed not tracking anyone for the first 10-15 mins of the second half), poor use of possession (nearly costing us a goal twice)... so I'm genuinely interested - what did he do well exactly?

I'm perfectly willing to admit I got it wrong and I'm going to watch it back tonight myself - but somebody could at least give me an idea of what he did well so I can look out for it.

Howard - 6
Saved a couple, wasn't at fault for either goal really.

Coleman - 7
Surprisingly ace performance.

Jagielka - 7
Few decent blocks, was solid.

Distin - 6
Made a few mistakes, always has a clanger in him.

Baines - 8
Mr Consistent never stopped.

Mirallas - 8
Best game for us, despite only lasting 45 mins.

Osman - 7
Probably best game he's had all season.

Neville - 5
Best game in a while, and still he's quite bad. Dived too.

Naismith - 7
First touch like a rapist, took goal well, never stopped running.

Fellaini - 6
Don't think he ever broke sweat, not as effective as he usually is. Good assist though.

Jelavic - 5
Fed very little.

SUBS:
Gueye - 4
Offered next to nothing.

Oviedo - N/A
Looked alright when came on, should have been ahead of Gueye.

He didnt do anything well, he didnt do much wrong tho, he was a 7, maybe a 6.

Nobody is saying he played well, most are saying he did alright, you appear to be the only 1 giving the fella a hard time.

But then, I did give Howard a 1.

He did well second half at shifting the ball from Coleman to Baines, whenever one of our full backs ran into a brick wall he came over, stopped us losing posession by taking the easy ball and passing it infield so another player could spray it out to the other wing.

He must have done that about five or six times in the first twenty minutes of the second half.
