Pienaar would seal more of the same but 2 more would take us to the next level

In fairness, last season when Cahill moved to the bench in matches shown mainly in the 4-4 Fellaini got everyone's arses in gear and got them moving, closed down everything and didn't give up. Heart of our team next year I reckon

Yeah thats true, hes boss, has been last 3 seasons but how much longer can we keep him thats my worry?

If we start winning trophies and get into Europe, for a long time! He's happy with just europa league, be gutted to see him go hope he stays until he's like 30 haha won't happen though

If we got Holtby/another surprise attacking player or Barkley suddenly makes the step up then I think we could do quite well... we have to be consistent though :P

I think we are looking at another 7th-8th finish with the squad they way it is.
We all would like to see a couple of quality signings come in this season to improve the team but in reality any large improvements are going to come from Rodwell hopefully staying fit and coming on, Barkley having an impact and even the likes of Gueye having some sort of impact when called on.

I really don't buy the OP s assertion that if we start well then we will finish badly. There is no fact to proof no impirical evidence from which to draw this conclusion. The last time we started a season well we qualified for champions league.
I think that A good start with the squad that seems to be coming together can gain momentum. Success breads confidence confidence creates great performance. I believe we can do something unexpected....
pizza have to believe...WE ARE EVERTON ....let's get behind em?...COYB start well and make is proud

we showed relegation form after christmas

I personally think 1 more major player is needed whether that be donovan or holtby or a suprise signing that is equal to them as attacking midfield players.

Obviously 1 or 2 more cheap/young/free/loan type squad players would also be beneficial. But I think with Naismith pienaar and 1 other main signing, plus the likes of hopefully Rodwell and Barkley adding to this years squad we will be as strong as we could possibly hope for giving our finances.

Attacking midfield would be good, but for me it's not top priority. Top priority is bringing in another quality striker, because we don't have adequate cover for Jelavic. The way things are shaping up, this would have to be a loan deal.

I'd go along with this.

We've 2 loan slots + 1 for Donovan in January...
