Which brings you back to your socialist views.
I’m sure as well Fred, you can see with some irony, that the posters many of us have been arguing with regarding the ‘undemocratic’ Eu are the same ones who have been supporting this robustly undemocratic institution.
Always blows away the argument that people give a toss about whether an institution is democratic or not.

The Queen does not make laws, she just signs them off. She is also still the Head of State, on a voluntary basis, of a number of other countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc. She is not ‘picked’ by politicians such as Merkel and Macron who may be gone next year. She has been a constant while 14 Prime Ministers and 13 US Presidents and innumerable other Presidents and Chancellors have come and gone. She has seen it all, entertained them all, and always did so for the benefit of the U.K. ... perhaps you would rather VDL or Michel from the EU. When you put your anti monarchy view to the side for a moment, you will see how lucky that the U.K. has been in having a non political Sovereign as Head of State.....or would you prefer Boris, Blair, Brown, Maggie or May.....

Or Trump.

Like many I guess, not minding having a Royal family does not mean you support them, as in being that interested in them. But when I heard the news yesterday, I was a bit saddened, cos a constant in our lives had gone. Will feel the same when the Queen dies as well.

And I quite like the fact that the next 3 monarchs are already in place, so to speak. A life of privilege? Sure it is. A life of choice and freedom? Not sure it is.

And I dont buy the tourist argument neither. Pretty sure I havnt seen a brown motorway sign near London with "The Royal Family" on it.

In place and actually being trained for the job.....

I know I'm officially bugged out mate, but I just thought I'd answer this.

I don't look upon the Royal Family as part of the establishment Jimmy. I really don't think they are that relevant. I just think they are figureheads.

Wouldnt want it for all the tea in China. Even with a few castles lobbed in to sweeten the deal. Youve got kids, and having that blank canvas that will one day be their life, is pretty much removed for the Royal first team. (Would happily let the others drift away over time mind).

Would rather have Trump etc. At least we would get the chance to boot them out. We're stuck with these embarrassing parasites.

Totally disagree mate. But the only way to prove who's opinion is right is to do away with the royal Family. ;)

No real need, it has been proven elsewhere anyway.

You take away the royals and everything that tourists come to see regarding them is still there, Buckingham Palace is still there, Tower of London is etc etc. They are not an attraction that you go to look at like Tussauds or anything.

I would allow them to be a kind of zoo I guess.
