So in the past few years we've had the Black Lives Matter campaign protesting about the racial inequalities that exist in society and the #MeToo campaign highlighting sexual inequalities, yet despite these two very obvious examples of the inequalities that still riddle society, we deem it fit to go completely overboard on the death of one extremely privileged individual at a time when 127,000 people have died from Covid. It's shameful tbh.

People are stupid in the main.

People can accept it without having to partake in the faux mourning involved.

Posting bad things about him on here or even on the clubs twitter etc doesn't really change anything or effect the Queen or his family in any way. It is merely a news story for those who are not related to him.

Trolling that online book of condolences etc however would be a dick move as then you are going out of your way to be a dick towards those who it does effect.

There's nothing to contradict - people are moaning about the media going OTT in its reporting when of course they will he's a massive public figure - why wouldn't they milk it?

You can argue all day and night if he deserved to have had that massive standing but it doesn't change the fact he does.

Same way you have doctors saving lives every day yet when they come to pass friends and family aside no one ultimately cares whereas some bloke like Diego Maradona who just kicked a ball around a field had the nation of Argentina in complete tears.

Hierarchys exist and always will regardless of if its "deserved" and how you even measure what is deserved and what isnt.

Not necessarily, more driven by my anti-royal opinion. I believe it’s a fairly disgusting and archaic institution to be honest and find the public fawning over them to be sickening. I’m happy to have someone provide evidence to me that he wasn’t a horrible man though...

Id imagine the view of him being horrible is mainly driven by the numerous dodgy things he's said rather than him being privileged. Didn't he once make a famous comment to a South American dictator about how great it was to see a country not ruled by the people ? Id say that alone is good enough for someone to consider him somewhat horrible.

Haven't heard that one but if he did say it my personal view is that it would have most probably been a sarcastic swipe at him rather than praise. He was well known for such remarks.

Have a fairly constant internal struggle with socialism to be honest, going from fairly centrist to far left on a regular basis. Anti royal sentiments remain stable though.

Privately of course it's sad for them, I don't wish that pain on anyone. To see people who don't know him and he absolutely wouldn't have given the time of day outside the palace crying is in my book pathetic. Focus on your own, the people who love you, rely on you, care about you. Absolutely fine people having a moment of reflection etc if they are royalists, it's not my business to tell anyone how to mourn or act. I don't even know what I'm on about to be honest but personally, I'm not a royalist he was 99, he lived a tremendous life most of it at our expense as tax-payers if I die at 99 having been paid to travel the world and call people fat then I'd be happy. I'll be sad when Attenborough dies. He's done something for me though. He showed me how wombats shag and put me through hell in blue planet watching that seal try and get away from Willy of Free Willy fame.

The Daily mail etc haven't covered themselves in glory neither have the flag shaggers on twitter blaming Meghan and Harry while an actual paedophile is sat on Balmoral, 'wiv is trotters up'. Some 'types' of people disgust me and in my world it tends to be union jack cranks who are nothing but sad hypocrites many with a racist undertone even though they won't admit it.

But again, just my opinion,. If people want to mourn then let them do it. Just not when Masterchef is on. Thanks and adieu.

You'd likely have already guessed but I'm not anti Royal. I'm not particularly pro Royal either though. I think they're pretty insignificant to how the country is run and have zero say in the decision making process as Johnson proved recently when he prorogued Parliament. Most of the Pomp associated with them is just that, but it does bring in the tourism. There are too many hangers on but, effectively, all the assets are owned by the state and the royal family are employees of the state.

Yes they live a life of enormous privilege, but as we saw with Harry, that all comes at a cost to personal choice and preferences. Dump the hangers on and what's left bring in enough readies in tourism and charity work to justify their existence IMO. I accept that's not a popular view on here.
