Yep Fellaini is good at that, I've always said he's got vision. I think he may well start playing regularly again now, just a shame that we'll have to mix and match to squeeze him in again.

I always thought he had it in his locker mate - he tried to play a few hollywood balls in the first Derby shortly after he signed and i think Moyes gave him yards for it. Didnt attempt half as much after that game and has kept things simple since.

Thats a lot of congestion on the flanks for me mate, a 4-3-3 for me would have to see Billy, Yak and Pienaar for me (though hes not great in scoring positions).

------------------Howard

Hibbert-------Yobo----Distin-----Baines

----------------------Heitinga

-------------Rodwell-----------Fellaini

Billy---------------Yak----------------Pienaar.

Honestly i think Moyes may have to go 4-4-2, makes sense with 4 fit forwards (touches wood). One more injury lads and we're looking dicey Special attention to midfeild and anywhere at the back.

I'd only got 4-4-2 if Pienaar was in the middle pulling the strings, because it would'nt work and hasnt worked in the past without a player like that (Arteta tended to be playing on the wings and we had 2 DM's in the middle).

The thing with the 4-3-3 is that you get to utlise you attacking midfielders in 2 different ways while also having a solid player to sit off. You bascially have your 4-5-1 but 2 players in more advanced roles depending on how the game is ran. Fellaini and Cahill alternating with Billy and Pienaar, and when they do that they suck into the middle.

You look at Citeh -

Richards Toure Lescott Bridge
Wright Philips Ireland Barry
Bellamy Adabeyor Robinho

The only ball winner, as such, is Barry, but its what they do...and what Chelsea are tending to do also. But again, its about ball rentention and backing players up. Those teams have better players at it then we do.

If we go 4-4-2 though, we do need that player that's going to spread play.

I see a role and have done for a while for Pienaar centrally mate, especially given his form and how he has played for SA there, my concern would be that when he is of form his passing can be erratic and though you cant fault his work rate and energy would it stand up, would his retention and persistence be enough to retain pocession. You would have to have an enforcer in beside/behind him i think similarly to what Moyes did with Arteta - Heitinga, Fellaini. Arteta can space with his vision and intellegence while Pienaar is more direct and relies on his energy. Im not saying he couldnt do a great job there - but those are the questions he would have to answer. I would possibly play him advanced in front of a two from a four of a Fellaini/Cahill/Rodwell/Heitinga, innitialy anyway.

As for the 4-3-3 i think you have to have the 2 wide players chipping in with 10-12 goals to make it worthwhile, the players in question have that little bit of an Xfactor to do something special or unexpected - like Henry-Eto-Messi at Barca or when Chelsea did it with Duff-Drogba-Robben im not sure we necessarily have that in our squad. Moesey loves his overlapping full-backs as well and would nulify i think what his preference would be for our wingers to cover for our fullbacks and vice versa.

The big thing is Pienaar needs to play central, doesnt he. I think he'll be fine there too.

Him and Heitinga will could hopefully work wonders.

I think the big man needs to be back in the centre as well, if nothing else to stop a certain nigerian international captain from trying to hit it long when hes brought on looking for a winner

Pienaar for me, I'd take a [Poor language removed] right side (Hibbert and Osman) if we sort the most important part of the pitch out, centre midfield.

He may completely flop there but something needs to be tried, we need someone who's positive and forward thinking in there. Cahill and Fellaini have both been given a go in the role and neither have delivered.

Pienaar is an intelligent player, he understands how the game works. He knows when and where to move when a defender has the ball, he won't just lay it off and run forward. He'll make angles for defenders and come towards the ball when we have possession.

And lets not forget his 'running', he covers more ground than any of our players and he's not shrinking violet, he'll put his foot in.

Look how good they are together. Mikel isn't even arsed to celebrate, it's just a goal.

Pienaars played for the national team in middle lots of times, he will definitely be comfortable in the position, especially considering he cuts in all the time anyway.

Poor pip

Pienaar's strength has built over 2 seasons, you can see it for South Africa when's he's up against the likes of Kaka, bigger and stronger than him, or Inesta and Alonso who are technically better. He held his own and was the heart beat of a good looking South African side. He can shield the ball and win a foul like Arteta does. I think he'll get more time on the ball too to turn and move.

Wenger tells it like it is though.

man what a barrell of c##k

every time we get a kicking from the injury gods

what next howard gets a twisted testicle ffs give us a break

no not a real break i will rephrase give us a chance

The calls for Peanuts to go in the centre is just pure madness.

He's waaay to short and all the opposition will do is long ball down the middle, he's not going to cope.

Just Shurrup the lot of you.

Thats why we have central defenders?

Pip and Arteta were the two in there last year, they're not exactly goliaths are they?
