Phil Neville.....

He's poor. Really, really poor.

Every time he gets the ball he slows down our attacks with his meandering passes. He's slightly less gash at right back because he sees less of the ball and he's more suited to a defensive role but he still should be nowhere near our starting eleven with everybody fit.

So you think he's ok at RB then........

I'd have him in there somewhere yes. Again, we play better with him. He's never gonna do silky dribbles or play killer balls, but in centre mid he breaks play up and plays simple passes (admittedly he's not the best but he's not dire- most of the time) and at right back he's very accomplished defensivly. Offers **** all going forward but I'd be more confident of him against Bale, Young and all the other quick little ****s from a defensive point of view than Coleman.

Half the time he just gets stick because he's Neville. Can't remember who it was against, maybe Liverpool at home this season (could be wrong), but he was our best player and people were giving him reluctant 7's all over the show.

A decent solid utility player, and a fantastic captain. Yes we will need to move on from him at some point, and improve on him to push for the top places, but for now I like him. He does the simple things well. Sometimes its not the obvious black and white of a ridiculous 50 yard pass or several million maradona turns to beat a man. Some of you 'football fans' need to look past the obvious stuff and realise what a player can bring to the table off the ball, and the simple stuff on the ball. Football isn't always a ronaldo\messi fap fest.

Nobody is asking him to do that though.

He can't even keep up with the tempo of the rest of the team, that's a massive issue. Gibson isn't a showboater but he's won over the crowd big time through his performances. Compare him to Neville and it's night and day.

TBH and without extracting the michael, I think Phil has been unfairly tarred with the UTD brush because of what he won with them, but he has been a great captain for us and we would have been the weaker without him........

Like him or not, this guy has been a tremendous captain of the team and has become a true Evertonian......

First part is arguable, second part is definitely not true.

A 'True Evertonian' who writes on Twitter that Ashley Cole is better than his own teammate Leighton Baines, and who regularly goes to Man Utd games in his spare time? He's no more of a 'True Evertonian' than Alan 'Go to Man Utd Wayne'/'No, I won't stay for CL footy, I'm going to Sunderland for more money' Stubbs. Another phoney.

In my spare time I watch Rugby and even go to Anfield, and until this year felt that Cole was better than Baines, so what. He used to play for them ffs. Alan Ball played for Arsenal and quite liked Southampton but he was still an Evertonian........
