Hes an inspiration to the players and a brilliant leader. I've always thought that way of him, but this season hes also played a lot better and his passion is as strong as ever. Future manager of Everton

Because were Everton, never settle for anything other than best mate. That was a very poor performance, and yes we got the result at the end of it but thats no excusing a lacklusture performance

AK - I may not agree with your assessment of Neville's performance on the day, but on the above, I agree that it was a poor performance by our team, all round.

Still, I'm happy for the result, and let's enjoy that part.

cheers mate

Pip has been pretty much the perfect captain for us this season and is an extension of Moyes on the pitch. I'm not one for assuming leading players will make leading coaches, but I think Neville will make a fine coach for us when he hangs up his boots.

Everytime someone asks Moyes about his best signings the 1st guy Moyes brings up is always Neville.

Even with all the trophies he's won, I don't think anyone on the squad wants the cup more than him.

I'll confess that I was aghast when DM signed him, and horrified when he was appointed captain.

His performances this season, and his leadership over the last couple of years, have completely turned me around on this, and I agree with the majority sentiment on this thread - true leader and definitely the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I will be 100% delighted for him when he lifts the trophy on May 30!

He's really improved his game this season.

I think it has something to do with players who are willing to give him an option, something Carsley never did. He doesn't need to try the hard ball because there is always someone available, whether it's Cahill or Arteta, they are both willing to give him an option to pass to. Carsley just stood there and was too static and Phil had no choice but to try his Beckham balls.

He was so frustrating but he's improved and obviously taken things on board. I think defensively, he's always been sound but it's just his decision making at times has been dreadful. He's really improved and taken things on board.

I've always liked him at RB but he's doing well at CM. I'd still like to bring in someone abit better but if we've got no money, then i'd have no problems in keeping him there.

On a separate note, did anyone watch Pip's reaction when he scored his penalty?

No fist pump, no shout, no nothing.

Just turned around and jogged backed to his teammates.

Respect for his old club or knew that this was just one more step on the ladder?
