Phil Neville - Captain of Everton

He stood off quite a lot and tended to lose his man when they come forward. But it was job done. It wasnt a great display by anyone but wasnt rubbish either, case of job done really

Our end product was poor all round, our crosses kept hitting the first man. Baines, Hibbert and Osman especially. Baines did give us an outlet though and whilst he's played alot better he was one of the few showing a bit of intent in a very tight game.

As for Neville, he's played alot better than that lately. Him and Cahill did back off too much and we got overrun at times, it was just one of those games really. He's had an excellent season though, I'm proud he's our captain whereas in the past that hasn't been the case.

Well done Pip.

Pip did what he does best. Organised the team, put the tackles in, and worked hard to stop the other team playing. He's never going to be Beckenbaur but I'm sure he is the first name on the teamsheet.

Have to defend Baines - I think he's done well. For the first time in absolutely ages, we have a left-back who is truely comfortably going deep into the opposition half on the overlap to try and get behind the opposition defence. Our left-side with Baines and Pienaar was, and is, far more potent than our right side where Hibbo looks like a fish out of water every time he goes into the last 3rd of the field.

I know there's already a thread about Pip but I wanna just pay my dues to him for his performance on Sunday.

He was a stand out player for us that day IMO and showed how
to be a true captain of a club.

Led the team. Kept them together.
Gee'd them up when they needed it.
Made the tackles that need to be done.
Kept an eye on Fellaini, kept him in check
Stepped up for a penalty and scored.

And just to sum it up straight after Jags slotted his penalty home and everyone ran over to him, Neville stayed and shook Scholes, Tevez and the rest of the Man Utd team before celebrating.

True professional. Hopefully turned the doubters about his capability of being a captain of our great club.

The best season he's had at the club.

Agreed, I thought Neville was one of our better players yesterday, led by example.

Pen aside, i thought his performance yesterday was shocking. I think he forgot he was wearing blue and seemed to want to pass to his United mates all day long.
He was only outdone in the sh*te stakes by Baines who was truly shocking yesterday
FFS, theres no pleasing some people:@ 6th in the Prem, with a game in hand and only 2 points behind villa, Beat the English, Euro, World Champions in a semi final to reach The FA Cup final, not done since 1995, all on a shoe string budget, and still your moaning about individuals performance's? Some Blues make MyfekingArse wink:@

He had a good game and made one bad pass. He was a great captain and never stopped running, and he made some crunching tackles too.

And you still say this isnt Halewoodbl00 ver 3.

Halewood, proxy.

Bang on.

What an absolute belter you are.

So you have checked his IP location? And its not Halewood? Because he writes like him, he has the same 1 track mind as him, with regards to Howard, Baines, Neville and Jags.

If its not him, I will be shocked and stunned.

Because were Everton, never settle for anything other than best mate. That was a very poor performance, and yes we got the result at the end of it but thats no excusing a lacklusture performance

AndreiK . I cant have your first statement mate . Baygollox if you catch my drift . I myself was defo not a Neville fan , but this year , post-xmas in particular , and Middlesborough FA cup specifically , hes been awesome . Genuinely .
As for yesterday , Ill counter your argument with , watch when he goes through on goal 1st half . Although he snatched at it , look at that and tell me he wasnt trying . He was big enough to slot the pen , and was dignity itself as a representative of Everton Football Club . I'm a believer . You should open your mind , if you dont mind the suggestion .
