Commands great respect is fine on the training pitch and around the club. We need a leader of men to captain this team on the pitch. This lad has captained a team that has collapsed on the pitch so many times it is shocking.

It is part of the current problem imo. A spinless team with no balls.

...Rooney and Williams are two who captained their countries, there are probably others too.

..never saw Ratcliffe or Brian Labone do that either and they were the most successful skippers in our history. Folk somehow think the captain should roll his sleeves up and run around giving teammates a rollicking but they are different types of individuals.

From what I hear, Jagielka commands great respect, is a fine club representative and a top pro. I think it’s ok to criticise his performances on the pitch but he’s been a fine leader in his time.

No it's not that mate. His body language is terrible, in post match interviews, in the tunnel before the game, out on the pitch after we concede goals. He is never captain material, so dour and uninspiring.

Sure i've said this before but watching Jags is painful now.
Been a good solid player for us , but sadly that time was a while ago.
Watching him on sunday was like he was running in treacle , he's now become the first player any opposing manager will look to exploit , & FWIW Williams is as bad if not worse ......as I said painful.
Should have been addressed in the summer.

Mad how no one seems to have noticed how bad he was today. Rolled about 15 times by Andre Gray. Quietly skulked around with the puppy dog eyes when the second goal went in. Absolute joke that he's still playing games as our captain.

Was very poor today. Andre Gray had him on toast. Very very sad to see. Remember when he'd keep in form top strikers like Torres or Anelka in his pocket?

Not his fault, the club should have brought another centre back alongside Keane.

He is just too slow now. I'd still back him over Williams. But I would rather try Holgate. Think Holgate would have been a good match up against a pacy Ande Gray.

Andre Gray would have bullied mans all over the park.
eh perhaps, I overrate Holgate. I wouldn't trust him against the bigger strikers but Holgate always seemed to do okay against the more pacy centre halves in a back 3. Jags was just way to slow.

Oh I do think it was noticed mate. Trouble is, the alternative is Williams.
