Man U to spunk 40m on Mata.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/21/chelsea-manchester-united-juan-mata

So nearly 70m spent on Fellaini and Mata. Two players seemingly not missed by their selling clubs.

And to think that Moyes was known to find bargains who turned out to be worth much more than the price he paid (Lescott, Seamus, Arteta among others).

As much as I rate Mata, somehow I can see it all going wrong at Utd. The vibes are not good.

40 million is ridiculous...

United was desperate. I don't see much of a difference between Mata and Ozil in ability. In fact I think Mata is probably better. 40M is fair in today's market.

Mata is certainly not better than Özil.

Özil's one of the best top 10 players in the world, and has been for the last 3 years or so. Mourinho would cream himself to have Özil in his 11 now (he loved him while managing Madrid).

Mata is excellent. But he's one class below Özil. 40m is overpriced considering how often he's been dropped this season.

Mourinho obviously doesn't rate him

mata would be a great signing, BUT still doesnt sort out there centre mid does it?! in fact mata is the type of player they already have! -januzaj, young(sort of), japanese guy, rooney(sort of) they have number 10's coming out of their earholes!

Hopefully we play a 4-2-3-1

Rafael-Vidic-Evans-Evra
-----Fletcher--Carrick--
--Januzaj--Rooney--Mata-
-----------Van Persie--

If this deals goes through then it will be the worst bit of buisness since Andy Carroll. United would not sell Rooney to Chelsea for any price, then Chelsea can sell a unwanted player to United 6 month later for whatever price they choose?

It breathes of desparation from Moyes. It is just like the Fellaini deal, sign him without actually knowing where he is going to play to begin with. It begs belief that Moyes has still not sat down and decided who to get rid of and who he wants to replace them with.

that could work mate- but you could play welbeck, nani, young, kagawa in matas position....centre mid is your main problem and your defence to a certain extent, im guessing its cos mata is available

Hahahaha!

Coppa Italia: Roma sorry for Michel Bastos scarf blunder

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11861/9127982/coppa-italia-roma-sorry-for-michel-bastos-scarf-blunder

Roma have apologised for the offensive message that new signing Michel Bastos showed to the crowd during Tuesday's Coppa Italia game against Juventus.

The Brazilian winger was introduced to the Stadio Olimpico supporters and held up a scarf that carried the message 'Lazio merda' - translating to 'Lazio s***'.

A statement from Roma said: "Bastos has shown a scarf thrown by the fans without knowing the message it had.

"The club and Michel would like to apologise for what took place."

Bastos joined Roma earlier this week on loan from United Arab Emirates side Al Ain.

Roma, who progressed to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia after beating Juventus 1-0 last night in Rome, will play next the winners of the quarter-final between Napoli and Lazio.
