Little Ralphy
Player Valuation: £15m
It breathes of desparation from Moyes. It is just like the Fellaini deal, sign him without actually knowing where he is going to play to begin with. It begs belief that Moyes has still not sat down and decided who to get rid of and who he wants to replace them with.
I think he'd be a great signing for Utd and he is a typcal Moyes type player for his system. Utd under Ferguson played with pace out wide, with proper wingers, Moyes on the other hand prefers his full backs to provide width so he wants central players in wide areas, like Pienaar etc. That way he can also pack the centre of the pitch to make it easier to defend.
I think that's been his issue this season, the full backs aren't good enough to provide the width and the wide players don't come inside as he needs them to. The central midfielders are not mobile enough to cover the open ground required so they are not as solid as perhaps Moyes wants them to be. I also think that's the main reason that Fellaini has flopped a bit there.
He already tried it a little with Kagawa, but it didnt work out. If he replaces Valencia, Young etc. with players like Mata, who are comfortable going wide and playing inside, then he'll likely also opt for more attacking full backs. I think that could be his plan, but then knowing Moyes and his tfr business as we do, he rarely had a proper plan about where to play his transfer targets anyway, so I could be way off.
