Only a fool would say that....John Connolly would look great with a Fender stratocaster round his neck, and a pair of blue tinted shades. He looks a ringer for Skunk Baxter of Steely dan
Bally tussling with Trevor Hockey of Sheffield United. Hockey was a "destroyer" on a football pitch.
Haha. Any major dude knows its's true.Only a fool would say that....
He scored on his debut v WBA in a 4-1 win. He had a great game in a make shift midfield, in the 1-0 league derby win in 1985. Wilkinson scored.…played against him once at Villa Park, kicked me up in the air on the halfway line.
Just checked this poster is new to the GOT ......some of his quotes are about wayward .......tbh .......Only a fool would say that....
What a fabulous player Johnny was. Hard as teak but a lovely fella. He used to come down to his Mums down Scottie road on a sunday, and then take me and my mate, young Johnny and his other son Stephen, to Stanley or Walton hall park in his pale blue Mercedes to play footy.Last game was Southampton at the Dell in April 1972?

Pity the away European cup games aren't available to view. I know a Greek commentary version is available of Panithanaikos v Everton, but that's it.The home leg was my first match. I am somewhere in the Upper Bullens there with my dad.
I watched that 68 final in full a few weeks ago. In glorious colour! We just didn't turn up on the day. I reckon it was something to do with the sponsorship deal the players signed with puma before the game. All our players wore puma boots that day. Only a couple wore them every week, so the rest were playing in brand new boots. Thats my excuse. In the Everton break my heart stakes, I wrote off the Storey-Moore game as just one of those things...with a grudging - fairplay to Carey and Wignall for maybe wanting it more and imbuing Forest with some fight.
Astle broke my heart - just how did we lose that? Was the constant question all the way home...we stopped in the first pub we found to drown our sorrows, couldn't even get into that, left after 3 pints
Villa hurt, but not as bad, only, 95%. We settled for the draw and paid the price - probably my first official 'Everton That', little did I know...
May 86 against rs for me. Winning 1-0 at ht as well. Gutted!Still ranks as my worst football day ever - gutted
That week, we went out of the European cup to Panithanikos, and out of the FA cup at the semis to the rs at old trafford. It shaped the seventies for us.Alan Ball pictured before the kick-off v Panathinaikos March 1971 - a big turning point in the breaking up of that great team -

I had the identical reaction to Murray, I couldn't see what the fuss was about. I hope things panned out for him after the Everton interlude. Of the rest of your list, Billy Kenny was the real stand-out for me. I can't believe he didn't make a good career for himself. He did a lengthy interview a month ago, in which a lot became much clearer. It's well worth a listen:
Scored on his debut v Manu?
Brindle and jackson look almost like twins.
