I think some of us on here are missing the point.

He may not have been the most talented or 'useful' player in the squad, especially in the last two years but he's served this club admirably and clearly put in 100%.

While I agree this is the right time for him to go, I think some people should recognise how much influence he had, and the fact he led us out as captain for quite a while.

I definitely appreciate what he's done, just like Cahill did, both served well but ultimately couldn't get any better.

Good luck Nev wherever you're going and hopefully he might come back to us as some sort of coach.

I was gutted when we signed him but he's been a great person to have around the club and I'm sure he'll make an excellent coach.

This. My heart sank when the news broke. We'd sold Rooney and the only consolation was Moyes was spending wisely bringing in Spanish playmakers and the like with the cash.
Then we signed Phil Neville. My mates couldn't stop laughing at me and they've been poking fun at me over 'Sir Point-a-lot' ever since.
The thing is, over the years he's grown on me. And although I never expect him to control a ball properly or find his man with a simple pass he will still be missed.

Phil Neville has only been poor for the past year maybe when his age has caught up with him finally, for 6 years he was a consistent solid performer and we won more games with him in the side then without him. Aside from the past year, he was a great signing and a great captain.

well said

As I said elsewhere: All the best to Phil, a great servant to the club who will no doubt get a great send off in his last GP game against West Ham the week after the derby

Think it says a lot that after 8 years his highlights are a minute long, tbh.

did they just replay his tackle on Ronaldo six times, then show that goal he fluked against his other foot.

Call it disrespect if you want, but this announcement is happiest Neville has made me in his Everton career

A model pro and captain, but just not up to playing any more at this level and hasn't been for a couple of seasons now. Phil, thanks for all you've done for us and best of luck from here on.

Has been a good player for us over the years, very dependable, but as with Tim Cahill, he played a season too many with us.
