Yep.

The same guy who bought Pienaar, Cahill, Arteta and Lescott for a combined fee of £11m.

....Cahill, Arteta, Jagielka et al for buttons. You might not like the man but please don't knock his transfer dealings.

....

Indeed. That's my point - the LMA awards don't mean that he's immune to making a mistake, just the same as Kroldrup and Bilyaletdinov don't mean he's terrible in the transfer market.

I've sang Moyes' talents in the transfer market non-stop on here.

When Everton finally found me, Neville was captain and has been all of my days.

It was time but I am happy to have seen him in the blue.

Once a blue Always a blue.

....

My response was somewhat random but the point was that some people seem to think that Neville has been holding us back for years, Moyes is clueless and if we'd played someone else in his position then we'd be much better off. As if we're going to suddenly surge up the table in his absence.

I disagree, I think earlier on in the Season he was a useful squad player, he played alright a few times, not wonderful, cos your never gonna get wonderful from a player of his age and overall talent.

Clearly his last few appearances have been a car crash, hence the decision has been made for him to move on.

But I personally dont think hes been "holding us back for years".

We actually have - 7 points out of 9 since he was Wigan's best player :P

I wouldn't say he's been holding us back for years or Moyes is clueless, but I wouldn't say he was definitely the best person we could have had in the Everton midfield for the last three years to say the least - my point was that even Moyes makes mistakes and I believe his rigid usage of Neville at all costs was one of them.

I'm disappointed, honestly, for the amount of stick being tossed off here.

Pip has been a remarkable servant for the club and has been completely instrumental in developing the current culture. An immense presense in the boot room, a tremendous ambassador off the pitch and a professional's professional.

I'm sure Neville would admit his play has not been up to snuff over the last 2 seasons but you don't have the Everton you have now without Neville. Simples.

Good on you, Cap'n. Godspeed.
