Nikica Jelavic

Just to clarify: no one doubts Jelavic is working hard enough. He's obviously pulling his tripes out. It's his composure and movement that's under question. It's like invasion of the body snatchers and we've been left with the zombie.

Basically this.

Its hard graft, which seems to be a default setting for Moyes players. But its being able to use it the right way.

Honest questions:

  • Did he trap the whipped in ball from the left from Mirallas well, twist away and Jagielka hoofed it over?
  • Did he move intelligently into space to receive the ball worked from the right by Mirallas, then lay off for Gibson to fire over.
  • Did he make the same intelligent run in behind as Mirallas at the far post for the first goal?
  • Did he stay onside and be the sole factor for Bouzanis not getting on to Ossies goal?

Just to be sure I'm not imagining them! That's before you mention the fact he could have had two penalties, moved into space well all night, got his head on a high cross but unfortunately jumped too early etc. etc.

I have absolutely no idea how anyone can class that as a "rank" game from Jelavic. Mind-boggling.

Let's put it to the test mate.

All those who watched the entire game:

Reply with a Cheese if you think Jelavic had a decent game, not a good game but just even a decent game.

Reply with On Toast if you thought he was terrible.

I don't think that would prove anything mate, I just think people expected Jelavic to score tonight and the fact he didn't overrides everything. Got no other explanation for it - we've just won 3-1. If we'd have been trounced 5-0 I'd understand it, but he was just part of an attacking unit that scored three goals and was directly involved in two of the goals, and should have had a further two assists.

Jelavic was out of his depth tonight against 3rd league relegaters -
Velios needs a proper chance to at least show us he is just as bad or worse - because he never gets a look-in -
as a striker Jeli is a blank bullet - not exactly what we need now -
if you are riding a dead horse - it is better to dismount and get yourself another horse or even a live donkey

I think your clutching at straws to be honest. He did do a few things well, like the lay off for gibson, but overall he was poor. Did he even work the keeper once?

He was facing a league 1 side back line & still didn't manage to get an effort on target.

If you consider that to be great compared to the lad we witnessed last season, then you're off your tits imo

You're not seriously suggesting those two efforts are worthy of distinction?

Look, he's on the field of play, I'd be surprised if in 90 minutes he didn't influence some part of the game. Overall though he's not playing well is he? Or have we all got that wrong?

I don't think expectation should come into it, just based on what everyone seen tonight it would be interesting to see whether they though he was merely decent - CHEESE - or terrible - ON TOAST.

It's concerning me greatly with him mate. He's turned to absolute sh*te and I miss him.
