Nikica Jelavic

Had a thought.

He's basically gone rubbish since he was trapped in that box just before Christmas by that horrible family:

To be fair he must be pretty shaken up by the whole experience.
He was crap before that mate as well.

Thought the Spurs winner was his turning point but it wasn't.

When Jelavic was playing well and scoring, his instinctive, one touch finishes were the talk of the town.

Now he is struggling we see the reason he favours the one touch finish....he can't take a ball in his stride and he generally leaves himself too much work to do with his second touch and the chance is gone.

Plus he is very indisciplned when timing his runs and is forever being caught offside.

I hope I end up with egg on my face, but he really looks a flash in the pan to me.

1) Poor form

2) Poor service

3) Confidence shot

I imagine that getting a goal or two will help and I don't imagine that all three will last long.

NO.
All top strikers play on the shoulder, i cannot blame Jelavic for being offside, blame the service, most notably Osman who holds on to the ball for absolutely ages then when he decides to give it to Jelavic he is crowded out.

IMO. He does need some help with some good service from someone and in particular balls through along the turf. Cahill was good for him for different reasons, he was a target and because the defenders were guarding against the air ball to Cahill which gave him some time and space. He needs some good service from the mid which is in a way that allows him to do what he does best, one touch finish!

I think we all pray for his quick search and attainment of form for the blues sake.

You mean the exact same role he had his brilliant form in last year?

He was new in last year, and was playing on natural instinct.

Moyes got to work on him in detail over the summer, and the rest is history. It's hardly rocket science, as there have been enough case studies in the past.

Absolute tripe!!

So moyes looks at jelavic firing and says "hang on a minute, I don't think you should play like that. It would be better if you took extra touches, missed sitter's oh and of course run the channels"

Then when jelavic's form drops right off, he's that stupid to not think "oh hang on, jela is not firing anymore, maybe it's because Iv changed his game" best reverting him back, see if we can get some form out of him???

Seriously come on... Jelavic is out of form, has lost confidence and as a team were not exactly creating him a host of chances week after week. Anyone who's played football at any decent sort of level will know that if ur out of form as a striker you take an extra touch, you try and find different possistions on the pitch. That could be to try and get different goal scoring opportunity's or in some cases coz ur hiding a little and taking yourself out of the firing line. Easy chances all of a sudden become hard chances. And sometimes 1 goal isn't enough to spark u off again...

All strikers drift out wide at times, all go thru lull's in goals and confidence. Every pundit has said the same about jelavic, confidence issue, funny none of them are as wise as yourself to identify that No infact... David moyes wasn't happy with him slotting for fun and asked him to play differently.

Of course he has history of ruining strikers...yak and Saha ?? Really?? there's much evidence about to prove that those two ruined themselves and is plenty of evidence to support the fact they were not the class acts you may think

What's the score with Torres then? 4/5 different managers can't get him slotting like he once did. Even the same manager that got the best out of him originally. ??

Have a look at the goal Victor scored at West Ham.

The ball is sailing into the net and Jelavic, miles offside, tries to head it in.

Luckily he didn't connect with it otherwise the goal would have been flagged by the linesman.

He displays very little positional awareness in my view.

Jelavic isn't one of those playing "on the shoulder" type of strikers.....he hasn't the pace for that.

As we know from the days when he looked good, he needs the ball played in just in front of him so he could cock the trigger and fire the gun all in one movement.

Which is the real Jelavic?

The one whom scored for fun last season or the one whom has struggled most of this season?

I'd love to think it's the former but I am having severe doubts about him.
