Nikica Jelavic

it just seems to be isolated moments in play where teammates could have put him in for the slot but chose to go themselves/ pass to someone else. Like when pienaar put in naismith(who shot pretty tamely) rather than jelavic.

Probably, but all players go through hot and cold patches. If we got 1 goal every 2 games from a player who cost us £3m or so then i'll be more than happy.

That kind of strike rate is as high as you can possibly hope for without paying tens of millions.

I was being sarcastic. He will go through patches where he isn't the best player in the side. But when he is (it will happen at some points during the season), imagine what we could do as team? Our front four, on their day, would be deadly.

Jelavic is nowhere near being dropped or a bad player. He just isn't our best player anymore. Not that he was for a long period or anything.

He ain't getting any service. Name one clear cut chance today? He's certainly not ****e

Maybe he needs Cahill back in the team making runs (bails under incoming fire)

But hold on, you say people should be dropped if they're not performing.

Service wasnt the issue today... several times we broke only to see him wide left! i wonder if its moyes' tactics as the yak started to do the same and AJ was forever in the channels...

He's playing sh*te. Sh*te.

You know who he's reminding of? Louis Saha. Great in flashes, but by and large massively anonymous.

He has the same characteristic Louis had of nothing sticking to him either. Every time the ball goes near him it seems to bounce five yards away, even if it's a simple pass.

That said, bizarre tactical choice today. Baines & Pienaar are proven, as are Naismith & Jelavic, so Moyes disrupts BOTH partnerships. I thought it was nailed on that Naismith would start centrally but... nope.
