Nikica Jelavic on the bench against Newcastle? You mad?

can't agree more! he's been below par for months now...
i'd give Naismith a chance to lead the line, maybe with Vellios in support or vice versa
hopefully Jela will buck his ideas up

Hes jacked to be honest, hes played non stop football for over two years tbh, i know many have but we expect our central striker to put in a massive shift.

Could have had three yesterday.

I would leave jellyfish up front and play Mirallas along side dropping big vic to the bench or sell him, coleman on the right both when fit, but for now swop velios for big vic

lead the line in what ? ****ing line dancing by doing some dodgy jig. Nah he's too slow, he's not strong enough and he generally is out of synch as he's not used to the way we play. When we do all that nice interchange stuff he's generally not involved and when he is the pass success %'s drop.

I appreciate that he's probably a sound bloke, has slotted into the Everton family well (seemingly) but can someone please explain to me what he brings to the team.

He has great movement in the box, works very hard and definitely carries a goal threat.

Prior to his performance yesterday I would have said yes drop him for a game, but he played well yesterday and looked better than he has done for a good few games.

Pretty much what I was gonna post, yesterday's performance was good to see, both the quality free kick and header deserved goals, if his level of performance is as it was yesterday he'll start banging them in again.

If Jelavic had continued in the same form as early 2012 we'd be on top of the league. He looks a frustrated man, and maybe a bit of TLC from Moyes would get him to relax a bit. Should he be rested for a couple of weeks? - don't like saying dropped - I don't know, but I'd be cool with Vellios getting a run. He deserves a chance and I wouldn't like to lose him, which I think we might if he doesn't get it. My problem with Vic is that he always looks angry and I don't think it helps.

...always pick your best players and Jellyman is defo one of those. How fickle some folk are when he's on a bit of a drought.

It's not about being fickle. He hasn't been pulling his weight and it's been costing us points. Everyone wants him to get his form back, but some people think being taken out of the team could do him good.

Thanks for that. I don't know what is the best stat site but just had a quick look at "The Score", 16 shots in 19 games, 3 goals though. Ossie (who also has 3 goals) 52 shots in 20 games. Players on the same page with similar # of shots / game ratio - Evra and Ivanovic. Questionable re: goal threat then. The rest is subjective and could be argued either way. I just wish he was better, a lot better.

On the plus side I thought yesterday was one of his better games, hopefully a positive sign of better things to come.
