The massive rearmament policy led to full unemployment in Germany between 1933/38 wages dropped by 25% and the unions were abolished anybody who stepped out of line was sent to prison .

The fella was a lunatic .

Werent the economic policies basically a 'wartime economy ' new deal type ideal ? How long would the ideas of massive rearmament & infrastructure rebuilding , huge increase in the standing army , Huge reductiom (even banning ) of imports , the creation of Mefo bills from an effectively imaginary company to allow the country to circumvent interest and run at a huge hidden deficit all have lasted ? This country seemed to live beyond its means during the recent boom years and is paying the price now but it's miles away from hitlers socialistic war based dont worry about tomorrow ideals for me, i think the early almost unopposed expansionism saved them by annexing of neighbouring resources which as has been said may be effective but is hardly an enviable economic ideology.

I wonder what would have happened if the B&B owners were Muslims? Fat Hitler's head might have exploded.

Despite his anti islam rants he Believes in a Zionist conspiracy but doesn't buy into the holocaust , supports immediate withdrawal from Afghanistan and visited Libya as a guest of gadaffi in the 80's there is a fair bit common ground. Basically I think his hatred of just about everybody leads to a fair degree of confusion in his life.

Griffin is a continuing his policy of jumping on any passing bandwagon But in my humble opinion every time I hear him open his mouth it further reinforces my belief just what an odious individual he is.

The crazy thing that I can't understand is why he does stuff like this?

If he's an educated man he will know that in times of Austerity people genreally lurch towards extremist nationalistic views and policies. He could have literally made his party a legitimate force in British politics with enough seats to actually give his warped views the time of day. France, Greece and spain are looking like their BNP equivalents are going to be influencial over the coming years.

There's a couple of other things I don't really understand about the BNP either. The first is why Nick Griffin? Image counts for a lot in politics, he's the strangest looking man in the world. Perhaps he's the best of an awful looking bunch? He's got the charisma of a stale loaf.

Secondly they consistently make awful PR gaffes. Surely one person in the whole entire party has got the sense to get some media training or hire a PR officer?

I think in this country we are very intollerant to somebody else's beliefs.... we need to lighten up as a nation and become more accepting and understanding.

France and Greece maybe. I think Spain's more recent history of fascism might mean not so there.
We fortunately seem to have an almost inbuilt aversion to it here.

The BNP could have the best PR team in the world but when your party rank-and-file is largely made up of holocaust deniers, pub racists and bootboys the gaffes come rather thick and fast. A neo-nazi party, which is what the BNP is, let's make no bones, will never be a legitimate force in British politics, and more the better.

I think Griffin just hates everyone, and his party is a busted flush and he knows it.

A lot of people side with UKIP, and then there are the more extreme groups like the NF and EDL if you really want to go down that road.

We need a party who's going to do something about immigration, namely letting the wrong people in I.e people here to commit crime/ use our benefits system. Unfortunatly groups like the BNP and to a lesser extent the EDL stop important issues being spoken about. The liberals and the left just instantly turn their noses up at this issue and accuse everyone of being a racist or in the BNP.

Basically, people, on both sides of the political spectrum, need to get some ****ing common sense.

Actually Nazi Germany was economically successful - amazingly so between the years of 1933 and 1939. That's actually a major contributing reason as to why his atrocities were allowed; Germans were living the good life and wanted more of it and turned a blind eye to the fact he was a bit of a loon to say the least.

Annexing didn't occur until 1936, which was after the biggest economic growth period in German history had occurred. In Hitler's first four or five years in power he reduced unemployment by about 70% and brought the country out of recession - something the Weimar Republic beforehand couldn't have dreamed of.

EDIT: I should add to this that after 1940 things went... erm... "pear shaped" obviously due to the war efforts and the whole "Nazi thing" of hating everything that walks that wasn't Aryan!!!!

GDP growth does not mean increased prosperity. When the transactions are through coercive force rather than mutual agreement, prosperity is destroyed, not created. That's the failure of socialism. Guns & Tanks != prosperity.

We could have a massive boost in employment and GDP if the government employed 3 million people to dig holes in the ground and fill them back up, but we'd all be materially poorer for it.

That's what happened with communism for 60 years. You had full employment and great GDP numbers year on year, but you still had to queue for 2 hours to by a loaf of bread. Eventually it collapsed in on itself.

I'm strongly anti-racist & in many ways a small 'l' liberal but I also feel the concerns of appearing politically correct led the mainstream parties to avoid debates that probably needed to be had which I suspect led to the relative rise in popularity of the likes of the BNP.

There are debates that should probably be had but by the same token his country has a history of sheltering those fleeing tyrany and I'm actually proud of that Be it the 1690 Huguenots , Jews fleeing nazi Germany or Asians expelled by idi Amin . I believe if people are genuinely fleeing oppression then our country should do all it can to help , I'd also welcome anyone who is prepared and able to contribute to our society although despite my ideals I'm uncomfortable with welcoming those that apparently have an agenda against our nation.

Like I say for me the failure to have open and honest discussion panders to extremism .
