RM has to get back to basics - playing a balanced team - looked ok in the first half one change , and carnage set in 3 players on the left side - one fullback in Coleman on the right!

So, you think it was right that Barkley is brought on to do McCarthy's job? I don't, not when Besic is available. We all know that Barkley is a mistake waiting to happen and shouldn't be asked to play anywhere near our last line of defence. I posted this sentiment well before KO by the way.
Its not rocket science that Barkley shouldnt be back there as you say. Besic should've come on for McCarthy, Barkley for Baines and Lukaku for Eto'o.

Everton's Roberto Martinez: It is a normal process for a team to go through highs and lows during a full season. This is our low but we have too much quality in our team, in our squad, for it to last. I know my players well and they will react.

On the reaction of Everton fans at the whistle: Yes I understand the emotions well and we are sorry by the result. The team need the incredible support of the Everton fans right now and they have to be the twelve man. I hope they can play their part.

Yeah and they conceded "two cheap goals" because Everton just dropped back and did nothing for the majority of the game. Your not helping much with your daft comments Roberto.

Well usually we can all agree that we would consider those sides easy pickings ..yes Palace have given us some problems however with Warnock gone they will revert to their usual selves..so if we can somehow remember back to last season and get back that confidence we had (it may mean hiring Moyes part time JUST for the managing our defence which seems alien to Martinez!) we might be able to string a few wins together and failing that I will start shouting at my neighbours...I HATE MY LIFE RIGHT NOW!

News alert - Moyes is the manager of Real Sociedad.

Sharp knives, short memories, not Everton that I'm afraid.
Short memories??? We older Blues have very strong memories and know the signs of a side in freefall and going into a backs to the wall relegation battle. We also remember that it was decisive action in 1994/5 that stopped us from relegation then, possibly too when Smith was given the bullet. They're our memories pal so don't be so patronising.

Let's get one thing straight as poor defensively as we were and that's pish poor, we were minus are first choice centre backs,Distin was a liability all game as was his partner in crime Alcaraz.
Mirallas should have started ahead of McGeady, McCarthy, Besic And Barkley should form the basis of our midfield.
As regards playing it out from the back, then yes do it when you can, if you can't then leather it,whatever you do don't wait for the opposition to close you down and lose possession.
And this folks is THE reason for our downfall.

Bad results for Everton this weekend with all our rivals except Hull gaining points on us
I've stopped caring about the other results. We're too far behind to get top 4 and don't care about getting Europa plus we won't get relegated.

I'm just looking for the performances to turn around to give us a chance in the cups.

You serious? Thing is pal, when you do start to analyse it all you can come to only one conclusion -- RM must go.

Not if your analysis fairly includes injuries, players having crap seasons...almost all of them, individual errors sometimes at the worst times(further killing confidence and morale) and some very bad ref errors.

a reasonable person would allow for these things..and note that we qualified top in Europa and that this manager got us our top points/win total last season.

I don't seem to see any of the above mention in the shouty panicing posts on here.

Bit of reason and some patience. Following a frustrating football club like ours becomes more enjoyable with that!

Alcaraz is definitely a Martinez type player...Jags, Distin are not. McGeady should be, but isn't. Barkley is hyped as a future world class player but at his age, is not a tenth as good as Rooney was at 16.His future could even go a bit Rodwell. Souness today was spot on. To play out from the back you have to have the players to do it. I said this in the Southampton match thread. It will take more time to get the right players in every position. Martinez needs to mix it ...clear the lines when necessary, but ensure that the ball doesn't come straight back at us. Bright spots today...Two good goals, and Kone looks like a player.
I think the answer could be to bring a few Spanish players in the transfer window who hopefully due to their naturally happiness with the passing game would avoid time wasted on other players in the team who currently can't master the martinez way. Yes playing from the back at the moment is looking a mess and makes us as fans wet ourselves with worry of losing the ball especially with Distin who surely needs to be replaced (must say though he has been a great player for us down the years!). Yes looked like a decent player but I still think he should go and be replaced with someone better.

Totally agree mate

People going on about Eto'o- he was playing on the left for crying out loud. Attacking mid I can put up with, but he is a striker! Martinez made plenty of changes today, which we were crying out for, but all he did was confuse an already baffled-looking side. The players are just as much to blame as well. Let's be fair, there must be something going on or something to have caused such an uninspiring season. The problem is now it's turning into a disastrous one. It's groundhog day I reckon and Martinez really needs to give some clear direction and changes in the next few weeks, but judging from the waffling in his interviews I'm not sure even he has a clear philosophy, apart from to pass the ball.
