Martinez playing players out of position isn't helping though. Why play Baines in midfield and play garbutt? Both left backs have played that game and besic is Sat on the bench. The mistakes are a reflection of his management style, the confidence and cohesion is gone. Barry cannot be anywhere near our starting 11 for hull. I don't care if we play osman in midfield, Barry can't be in the side.

Whatever team he goes with the fact is nobody is playing well in their position, nobody looks confident and more worryingly, nobody knows what themselves or the players around them are doing. That's the managers job.

Baines in midfield after the run of form we are on is a pisstake. You do that sort of thing in cup games or when you have nothing to play for, not when you desperately need points on the board.

thought Baines did ok today...certainly pressed more like a McCarthy than a Ross. it is not necessarily a pisstake decision.

again before we get to see how todays team might fare in normal circumstances two of our players kill the game with stupid mistakes.

for me this stuff has to be taken into context.

Out next four is hull away then city at home which are tough, then wba and palace who will probably have new managers in. It is a worrying time
Well usually we can all agree that we would consider those sides easy pickings ..yes Palace have given us some problems however with Warnock gone they will revert to their usual selves..so if we can somehow remember back to last season and get back that confidence we had (it may mean hiring Moyes part time JUST for the managing our defence which seems alien to Martinez!) we might be able to string a few wins together and failing that I will start shouting at my neighbours...I HATE MY LIFE RIGHT NOW!

I agree. All the talk about injuries and suspensions yet we have been playing as bad with a near full strength side. I am not a knee-jerk merchant but I think Bob's days are numbered.

Even with the injuries we have had, we still have a squad with players that can at least hold the fort down in my opinion. Problem for me is Martinez's approach towards matches whatever it's tactics, formations, bring stubborn to change things etc. have been poor. Personally I like Martinez (still do), but instead of acting like nothing is wrong even though this team is crumbling in front of us, he need to talk a good look in the mirror and realize there's something wrong here, were not playing up to par and it's up to me to fix it. I get managers are structured, but at some point opposition managers fill figure you out and it's up to you to adjust.

With all the talk on here about wanting to sack the manager. Who would be out there that we can afford that can come in here and do a better job? It's a honest question

Maybe I should of expected that but to be honest we are a lot worse than I realised. Newcastle are possibly the most unbalanced team in the league and yet we've just surrendered possession willingly. We had the perfect start and rather than pushing on and imposing ourselves on the game we've dropped deep, invited pressure and paid the price.

I don't want Martinez to be sacked because I have faith he will turn it around but he's looking a little out of his depth at the moment. He's the same as a lot of other managers (the biggest example coming from across the park) in that when things aren't going his way he struggles to adapt and looks a bit clueless.

It's some doing when its possible to say today was an improvement and was still awful. Oh and that we deserved to lose.

Newcastle used Sissoko to bludgeon us to death today and it worked he just kept coming and battering ramming us about. Lukaku used to do that for us but is now being utilised as a winger. Genius.

Too much expectation on Barkley, we setup well for the opening 20 minutes or so and I was glad to see a lot less 'titting around with the ball at the back' (although still not a lot less enough). We are caught, stuck between two or three styles of play and we are simply getting picked off very very easily.

Back to basics, hard to beat, ball to feet, look to expose the channels.

Wont happen, just like at Wigan - absolute belligerent faith in a system(s) that is failing.

Failing our way into new year. Great.

(PS. 12 months ago we were just off the back of being unlucky to not make a full calendar year unbeaten in the league at home - twas the Sunderland game. Remember that, fortress Goodison, beating sides, looking like a good side? Distant memories!)

Please explain to me how we as fans can in any relevant way get behind the team? Vocal support is irrelevant. If it wasn't we'd be unbeaten away from home this season. So all supporters can do is show unhappiness with things, in whichever way they choose.
When I'm having a shitter at work I want my team to be with me, not against me. Having sniping going on and some of the crazy rubbish that's been written on here and other forums does increase the pressure. Journalists read forums....check the Daily Mail thread for a good example.....and Blues going OTT and withdrawing support fuels that. I've no problem with people suggesting the manager or players aren't good enough, and having the view that they should go, but some of the trash written on here is a joke.
If fan support does nothing why does anyone bother going?

Things will pickup..no we can forget 4th (so sad that we actually are living in times where i actually say such a self defeating thing when we used to be Champions!) We have too much quality in the side to keep losing so next up is Hull which we really do stand a decent chance of winning then after that West ham at home so 6 points are there to be won if we can wake the f**kers up!
West Ham is a cup game

Desperately need a left winger, fed up of Eto'o and Barkley there. We need someone who can stay wide, keep hold of the ball and draw players out to create space in the middle, probably need another right winger doing the same the other side. Teams just defend easily against us by staying narrow.
