Is there more money up for grabs in the new Europa Cup???

Something needs to be done so the less wealthier clubs can catch the CL teams, not just in this country but every league in europe!!!

I think the rights are being sold of towards the end of the season early indications from Uefa are that the deal will be more then the existing deal for the Uefa Cup, how much who knows? Its likely that the introduction of a Cahmpions Leuage format was to make it more ameniable to TV watchers.

Its likely the new format may also add to gate receipts, with the new home and away format. While prize money will probably get a zap to, better to be in it then not id reckon.

Same old crap, just a different name. The re-brand is in the hope of attracting better advertising. It wont work and any extra cash will go straight into the head qwegs sky rockets.

Not exactly the best time to be negotiating a new rights/advertising package either. The format may have legs but I'd be surprised if much changes financially. I believe the group stages are home and away so there will be a few more games and the associated tv/gate money but nothing too big. Perhaps an extra few hundred thousand or so after expenses.

I agree, there will be a few more games to play but no real significant difference in prize money. The Champions League is where the money is increased.

I read somewhere that the clubs currently arrange their tv deals for the Uefa cup  ?? And as of next season UEFA will be handling it, in the hope of being able to strike a deal with sky or sultana (and we all know that where the money is). Not sure where I read it or if its true though.

Agreed on the whole but in re-branding the competition, UEFA will market the Europa League centrally as they already do with the Champions League. By taking control of television rights, advertising it may provide more prize money and a greater share of the income for the clubs on the whole.

Currently clubs can arrange their own television deals up to the semi-final stage.

Last season the Champions League raised £468 million through central bargaining which was shared among the competitors, while the UEFA Cup brought in only £32 million through local/individual bargaining.

Have to say i like the format with twelve groups of four with two teams qualifying for the knock-out stage, where they will be joined by the clubs finishing third in the Champions League. Makes for some tastey games

Its a stagered sales process Bruce, many of the packages are already tendered and decided on, while some arent. Uefa is negoitating with brodcasters from each country in Europe and intrestingly internationaly, inclusive of Asia and South America. Have a look at the link below.

Im sure wel have an idea of how much we could make come easrly summer, if we qualify of course!
