This and also find an exercise that you enjoy or you'll always find an excuse for not excersising- hence why gyms are empty in February.

I love trail running, but hate road running and the gym. If I had to run on the road and go to the gym I woudnt be able to motivate myself to do it.

Sounds like you've become bored of the same old same old Ash - as @ijjysmith says either mix it up or go with the one that you enjoy the most.

to be honest i don't hate doing it, just can't be arsed or at least mentally do something else instead haha the tae bo and the DDP yoga is down my alley as it feels male driven compared to others, which i think is important. going to insanity and so far i have been the only male there, although not been in a couple weeks, partly down to not being in work at that time. So yeah, doing the Tae bo in particular is important for me as it is essentially aerobics covered up as doing martial arts, briliant trickery haha

if i just get my head down and say 9pm i'm doing this, it may work. I will give it a go tonight and thursday.

Well done thus far Ash.

I am personally down a stone in 6 weeks, one stone left before I reach my goal of 12.5 stone. Should hopefully hit it by December. Then the hard work begins in maintaining it while eating nice food and the occasional treat. Actually demolished a carrot cake and some home made honeycomb this weekend, so roll on crossfit and spinning Weds and Thurs :D

Well done mate! nice to hear you are doing well!

I've had better progress since ignoring weight completely and doing measurements only.

Since then I've gone from an XXL and 40" waist.

To a L / XL and 34"/36", and from doing nothing particularly drastic.

I'm 6'3 anyway and have always had a larger build than my mates, even when I was at my slimmest.

Suppose it's about what works for you.

Only awkward thing is when people say "You look great, how much weight have you lost?" and you genuinely don't know.

With that being the only drawback it has been thoroughly worth the change in lifestyle.

Think i do need to know my weight, although i have got down to only doing the official weigh in of a monday now. It is a nice motivation technique, to know i have lost weight when i go down there. its less what i weigh and more what i have lost, just an encouragement to know its all worth it. otherwise i think i'm just gaining weight constantly.

Although my pants may be tiny bit more looser today than yesterday.

Seems to me you need to get more into a routine Ash mate.

Bits here and bit there might be why you can't stick to it that well.

It can be hard with a busy life but I always exercise straight after work, everyday except Wednesday and Sunday. Mix up the exercises a lot so it doesn't get stale and seems to work well for me.

If I was you I'd set a time. Every day. Call it exercise time. Don't let anything get in the way and just do it. Even if it's only a little bit.

Got to do whats right, for me training after work is a no no, trying to motivate myself for it is literally the last thing i want to do after a day in the office.

I get to the gym for 6 or 6:30, it sets me up for the day and feel well better for it. Plus, means am on auto pilot when i wake up, no talking myself out of it... only realise whats going on half way through the session hahaha.

@Ashtonian have you thought about doing some different types of training? I don't know where you are based, i know a few good places though which mix it up, some good gyms that have pretty intense HIIT bootcamp style classes, always good to shed a bit of sweat

I do insanity in work, be starting that up again next week so that is a little different. Other than that it is just doing stuff in the house, as much as i would love to say i'll go running or start the gym, i know i won't commit to it. Said that all along, know if i signed up for thr gym it is getting the chance to go there and compared to doing something in my own living room, i know i wouldn't go the gym regulary.

Think the issue is just the get up and do it at the time. I mean right now i could take my work pants off now and do a full workout no problem, but come 9pm when i have chance to do it, that is when i am a little pedantic and put it off. Cant do it any earlier with the kids awake, so yeah, i'll force myself to do it tonight and see if it sticks that way.

I don't think I could ever do a workout (or anything in fact) before work in the mornings. I get up at 8:25, shower and am changed by 08:40 and jump on the bike at 08:45 and in work by no later than 09:15. To me, life doesn't exist before 08:25, I have no desire to ever do anything else other than sleep prior to this time.

Think my issue is that i procasinate too much. Like this morning, had plenty of time and by the time i have messed about on my phone and been the toilet and whatever then i leave it too late. Only way i could combat it would be leave even earlier haha

Although i have thought about walking to work, would take me an hour or more from where i live but it would guarantee me getting exercise.

I find it much easier to exercise before work, i've been walking the 2 miles to the gym arriving at 7am then doing an hour in the pool, only been doing it for about a month but I do feel much better.
used to love swimming. I would swim 160 lengths of a 20m pool which translates as 2 miles. would take me a couple hours like, not a quick thing to do haha

Yeah, have no intention of swapping out most of my meats but for things like quorn in spag bol isn't really an issue for me. Happy to do it as you won't tell the difference once it is has sauce mixed in and potentially some broccoli.
Sorry, but you absolutely can tell the difference. A very big difference. Quorn mince is fine, but don't be thinking it's a like for like substitute.

Try the meat free meatballs, they're really nice.

I don't mean it will taste exactly like mince. I'm saying once it is on the sauce and got veg in there it will taste pretty much the same no matter what it is, or even if there was nothing there.

Whereas a piece of chicken or a burger, absolutely tell the difference and would not even bother. but in regards to mince, swapping it out and increasing protein is fine for me.

And I'm saying that really isn't the case. But as I say, the meat free meatballs really are quite authentic.
