New Healthy Start

I hope they turn this thread into a movie about one man's struggle with Subway ranch sauce and back to school expenses. I for one would pay good money to see it.
I want to see it directed by Edgar Wright with a series of quick mad cutaways. Ding! Subway door opens. Bosh! £2 down on the counter. Crunch! Mouthful of salad eaten. Ching! Till rings/Ash leaves Smiths with an armful of Back To School bags. Then Tarantino for the stag night sequel....

Stick at it and take on board the advice offered in here and I'm sure you'll get there mate. Everyone means well and don't take the criticisms to heart, people are just trying to help.

I'll obviously continue to mock most of your posts in here though, but it's only because I have deep routed emotional issues.

Yeah mate, i have took on board most suggestions and implemented them as i go along. Even going to less jarred and tinned food, to be honest a lot of the help on here has been fantastic.

And said it many times this thread is about not just about keepinbg track but if i'm a tit one week or eat things i shouldn't then it is great to have reponses telling me just that. i actually appreciate it, and take it on board and try to change it.

Aldi do do decent salad bags. Lidl certainly do, I buy them all the time.

Alternatively, buy an actual lettuce and cut it up, same result, and even cheaper.

From next week i will be making them again. As i say it has just been one of those weeks this week where things haven't gone as smooth as i would have liked so grabbing a salad any way i can is better than resorting to grabbing things i don't want to get most of the time. Will be going asda on saturday so will pick all my lunches up in one go there, salad bags, tinned fish (to keep for the week), job done as it were.

I did look in aldi for salad not too long ago by ours (bank holiday it was) and there wasn't anything there away from a bag of salad. I even bought all the stuff in individually that day, as there was no easy bags that were anything but lettuce. Asda seems to be the best place so far for me, even cabbage/carrot type bags, or ones filled with peppers and stuff so will be sticking to them .

haha the stag night will be a mess mate. Who i'm bringing along will be a rag tag bunch by the looks of it, from mates who won't be comfortable round older people and older family members who apparently i have to invite. So yeah, be a bit of an experience that one.

I genuinely hope you're gonna set up a separate thread for that mate - pre, during and after! What you got planned?

Pain in the arse so to speak. few mates, inlaw, mums fella and other halves uncle is the general plan.

But don't want to do anything crazy, like they are all joking about tying me to a lampost haha got to make sure before that they don't do that, but other silly stuff is fine on the night. Don't want to be a bore, just don't want to be tied to a lampost or stripped tbh lol

salad today, tuna salad, with lettuce, olives, onion, tomatoes, peppers, jalepenos, very small amount of sweet onion sauce, like not even enough to taste it.

Insanity tonight as well......not looking forward to it at all sadly.

Week 3 of insanity.

Nearly stood on someone who is randomly lying on the floor from the other session haha they are still here.

@The Cowboy might be something relating to kettlebells this session, balls on the floor

I agree with you there mate...

monday update.

Had a better week last week. not perfect, but 2 workouts and more healthy meals for the most part. Meals over the weekend, saturday was jacket potato for lunch with cheese and beans and tea was a burger, but again it was timings of stuff, made it hard to get around to cooking. Sunday lunch was half a tin of spaghetti on 2 pieces of toast, and tea was scouse. Mostly drank water in that time, snacks, a pack from a multi pack of crisps from asda (so half a normal bag) and an ice cream yesterday with the family. Was a bit active as well going shopping saturday and doing house work / strimming the grass yesterday so didn't just sit around.

Today is the trigger again. I lost half a pound having a crap week, have i lost any after doing a bit more this week?

Oh and packed lunches have started today. Bought some salad bags and fish. So today is the crunchy carrot and stuff salad with one half ranch sauce with croutons (used only a little bit of the sachet, threw most of it away. the other half got mackrel in sweet chilli sauce.

Oh and i noticed yesterday, when i wasn't doing anything, i felt really lethargic and tired. First time in a while i have had a weekend day where i am not doing at least something active so before i done the grass + kitchen i was really tired.

Also. Few thoughts.

Think i may start to reign it in a little bit going forward. I am finding over the week it is hard to be religiously good food wise and eat nothing bad. Granted stuff like chocolate and biscuits and cake and whatever else are easy to avoid i find. and drinking anything sugary is easy to avoid as well. But rather than go for some elitist diet i want to stop worrying as much about it.

for the first time recently, i actually don't feel as fat. Sounds silly but when my daughter asked me to come into her wendy house yesterday and i crawled in, 6 weeks ago i got stuck in the door lol (the door isn't that big so i wasn't a heffer) but i really noticed then how far i have come already. I even think i have burned some more fat, if not weight if that is at all possible. Put a t shirt on saturday and it felt like there was more room in it, even if the scales don't reflect that.

For me, i think the most important things for me are the following

1. Keep going to insanity on a friday. Make it a routine rather than an option
2. Keep eating good lunches. and salads as well
3. Keep avoiding sugar/pasta/bread where i can and make them not an option for meals if i can help it
4. keep being more active. If i can do a workout in the house, fantastic
5. Still keep making sure veg is on my plate for tea as well.

For even the most negative out there, sticking to the above in reflection to my old diet surely should make a difference? Even if it takes longer than the original projection, just stick at it and hopefully get to the wedding at least 2 stone lighter.

....no need to have biscuits, crisps, sweets etc and don't eat between meal times. Never sure why folk feel the need to have something in the evening after they've eaten a meal at tea time.

If you're able to, try and undertake some exercise a few times per week, especially if you're job isn't energetic. I still manage an old man's gym jog at least 3 days per week. If you like a pint, stick to dark beer - Guinness is gorgeous.

aye i do try to when i have chance. it is fitting it in, for arguments sake sister in law was asleep on the couch last night when i wanted to do one, previously baby could be awake til all hours if she decides she won't wake up at half 4 lol

that was hard at first but become second nature now. Not eating snacks/afters at all. Used to always get crisps with my dinner for arguments sake but at the minute only 'afters' i have been eating after a meal has been a orange in the afternoon.

Just had my weigh in. After not the most perfect week again......

BOOM!

4 pounds off. Right on target! could have lost more if i pushed myself more but 4 pounds is what i realistically wanted to drop a week so done brilliant overall. Fine tune it a little bit plus healthier lunches as well and these 4 pounds will drop off me every week

Made up anyway, was a bit unsure and setting myself up for diappointment but made up i hit my target. And i ate a burger and subway salads every day!
