New Healthy Start

This sounds like a good idea. I think I would need to do this if I ever decided to become less of a fat waste of space...........
Well yeah, i was thinking because i am all over the place it might reel me in if i am going there every week. Considering how clueless i was when i started, and even now i am trying to take every little piece of advice offered on here all at the same time and make it into a working plan which is got me all over the place. So being able to refine something and have a obligation to go to it, means its more encouragement to keep going rather than sail through.

2 day update.

Haven't really been working out. Seem to have lost that get up and do it motivation i once had which i'm kicking myself for. Haven't been able to do the yoga in the morning due to tiredness and of a night finding oppertunities harder to do a workout.

foodwise i am maintaining the healthy eating approach although had an ice cream past 2 nights after tea. Food wise doing well, salads for dinner and smaller healthier meals for tea. Sunday was tuna pasta and last night was 3 heck sausages (about 240 cals in total) some mash and some veg.

Been eating these porridge pots again as well, to make sure i have breakfast in me to help with the metabolism. Looking where i work i am considering going to a wight loss thing where they offer advice and keep a track of your weight etc and insanity session on a friday as well. I know i wont do that at home but stick me in a hall for 30 minutes with others and it will push me more to get the most out of it. Glanced at tai chi but i don't think that would be for me.

So yeah, 4th week and although i am watching what i eat i have regressed actively which i am beating myself up about but i'm trying to find the kick i need to get back into it. Perhaps pushing it for so long as had the rubber band effect, i need to get it back again as i need to drop another stone by 2 weeks to really progress. Sure the scales say i have gone up again as well.....But yeah, i know i will lose weight anyway by the way i am eating, just need to get the motivation back again.
Sadly, the motivation will always wane, simply because it's not much fun and its easier to sit on your arse doing nothing. I went from doing kettlebells 3 times a week for about 6 months down to never doing them. But now I run instead. Maybe if you mix up your exercise you might find it more appealing.

This.

I rarely do the same exercise in the same week. Something different everyday keeps it vaguely interesting.

Was consering that yeah, the problem is, to what? The tae bo is very involving but i have only got one of them so it gets repetitive despite it getting slowly easier. Zumba is ok but i have terrible rythym lol Insanty is just torture and anything else is just a less intense version of it.

I know i should start running but still miles away from being fit enough i think, and i don't want to go the gym. Just one of those rock and hard place deals, do i keep doing the same workouts over and over and muster enthusiasm or not.

Hopefully starting from this week i will have an insanity session down a week of a friday so when they say exercise 3 times a week, that is a guaranteed once then.

Wednesday update.

Still not excerising but being active. My phone tells me i am hitting my activity targets walking around and stuff so great.

Changed diet again, bought some instant porridge so going to have that now in the morning. Minimal sugar and salt content so gets me eating breakfast for my metabolism as suggested and it isnt loading me up on sugar at the same time. Dropped from dubious blueberries in it which are probably on the turn now but i'm not sick yet.

Making my own dinners now. Got a 2 sided lunch box i didn't know i had so filled it with lettuce, carrots and cabbage salad bag mostly which is nearly 2 of my 5 a day according to the bag, and on one side a slice or so of ham , and on the other some sardines. So bigger dinner but mainly lettuce and got the protein in there as well

Have you got a step counter or some sort of fitbit type thing mate? Might be worth the investment.

Step counters are dirt cheap I think.

My phone has fitness stuff on it so it detects steps and how active i am when i am carrying it. Didn't know i had it until recently, so been nice using that, targets me 60 minutes active and 6000 steps at the minute. I don't give it much thought like but if it pops up that i have got most of it done i'll walk a bit extra or something. Like the other night, walked to aldi rather than jumped the bus just to finish it off.

10000 steps is a good target mate. But keep an eye on that app.

We did a step challenge thing at work and gave us all a counter. Was a real eye opener to be honest.

I haven't really thought about that myself tbh until i dound the app on my phone. It is completing each day and giving me weekly summaries so over time i can see where i can improve my 'activeness' during the day. Like i have started to go for a walk round work when i start falling asleep. Only 10 minutes or so but just adds to the overall activity.

By 'instant porridge', do you mean actual oats, or those Oats So Simple sachet things? If the latter, throw them away and buy a box of Scott's oats.

Perfect porridge recipe: one cup oats, one cup milk, one cup water (same cup for all three). Heat til bubbles start to pock the surface, stir once then turn off. Go have a shower, come back, stir again, eat. Perfect.

Pretty much ^^^ this

A lot of the instant stuff has added sugars. I just add a bit of honey for sweetness to "proper" oats once they're cooked.

I live dangerously and use two parts milk to one of porridge and swerve the water. Most oats are microwavable though, which is a damned sight easier to deal with first thing of a morning.

Can't beat getting your oats in a morning, which leads me onto exercise. Sex is good for burning calories and it's good for your mental health too.

Moral of the story, if anyone asks you if you "wanna bum" then the answer is always yes. If they stay overnight, give them porridge for breakfast.

they are in sachets but looking at what you get in the packet it is minimal sugar and fats and stuff so they are pretty much the real thing. They aren't quaker or anything either, made sure there was minimal sugar and what not in them before i picked them up.

Well it's easily cheaper done the old fashioned way, and barely any more hassle.

i can microwave the one i have lol

To be honest the main reason why i wasn't eating breakfast was to reduce food intake and because it is finding the time in the morning to make and eat it. So i won't get round to making it the old fashioned way, but can force a bowl out the microwave with a bit of fruit. I have made sure it is not got sugar in, so again i am making progress! slowly learning about what to eat and what not to eat. Avoiding other higher sugar and salt content foods at the minute where i can.

You can microwave normal oats too, although I've yet to master that method.
