New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

You know what used to get people out of their seats at Goodison? Quick breaks where you knew we'd have a chance to score, that sound of the seats clacking back before the roar of the crowd. Currently when the ball goes forward, it pings off one of our useless forwards, or comes backwards or sideways at best. If we had a goal threat or two the atmosphere would be buoyant and positive I'm sure.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised how quickly Goodison's atmosphere has been mythologised.

Yes, it was capable of being extraordinary. And it was, on occasion.

But it was also mediocre most of the time, and poor a lot of the time.

I honestly don't think the new ground is any worse. We just haven't had any of those historic moments yet.

People have rose tinted specs about the old WHL. It could be great and many times it was. The worse the atmosphere gets at the new gaff the better it seems to get at the old one.

*fixed

Not our stadium. Its perfectly suited for singing. The acoustics are fantastic. The stands are steep and close to the pitch.

Ticket allocation is not a stadium issue, its a fan issue. Our fans picked where they wanted to sit. They were well aware that the south stand was planned as being big home end where the club wanted vociferous fans to go and sing. The club made that as obvious as they could. They can't force our fans to sing or stop them from choosing their seat in that stand unless they sign some sort of singing contract.

It's the fans that are responsible for making the atmosphere. Blaming the stadium is just an excuse.
The acoustics are fine for when everyones singing and Id say unknown for when only a small number are singing. Im questioning the position of the standers in relation to the acoustics and that is design related.

Im aware ticket allocation is not completely a design issue. Ive said that to someone somewhere, but obviously we judge on single posts. However, it is a consideration. Ie, how many fans generate the singing and where is the best place for them.

Steep Stands have no additional benefit to if fans sing. If anyrthing it just means fans are higher up and more likely to sit.

The stadium design is brilliant for singing. You only need listen to the away fans to hear that.

The problem is the scattering of fans from Goodison.

The people who helped build the momentum of songs from being sat in the same vicinity are now distributed across the new stadium. The voices people listened out for - consciously or unconsciously - aren't where they used to be.

You can't replace 130 years of organic fan clustering in a season.

It'll take time.
Its good for when all fans do sing, but design as well as other factors influence how often people do.

I feel there is a shift in the supporters mentality due to the displacement of fans. I had a seat in Lower Gwladys for nearly 30 years, when there was a minutes applause for someone who had passed everyone stood up and applauded for the full minute, as a sign of respect. I know sit in the 3rd row of Upper South. On Saturday there was the minutes applause at 33 minutes we stood up straight away, some took a few few seconds to stand up. The first two rows of the Upper South continued to sit down. If these people can't show respect I'm not sure they will sing.

I think this is something different. The old screens at GP were in eye line for many people, so anything displayed was noticeable. Its not the same here, regardless of how big they are. So if nobody knows that a minutes applause is happening unless they look at the screen, then reaction will be slower.

Big blocks of seats available for the Leeds game. Think we'll see a lot more of this, especially for the night games. Prices are really poor in my opinion. £70 for those seats is not a good price.

These people believe in the laws of the market dont they? If there's no interest at that price for those seats then they should be slashing the cost of them.

They've got away with it mostly this season due to the novelty of the new stadium, but they better start pushing up that league soon to attract some new fans with those prices.

The idea it's the norm for Leeds at home on a Monday night to be £70 is not right to me. Sadly, I don't think Everton or any other Premier League club care. We're not the demographic they're desperate to get into the stadium.

Picked a couple up before for Leeds.

Didn't go in the ballot as I couldn’t be arzed going but had a look before out of curiosity and ended up getting some.

Think this will be the 8th game I’ve got to so far (had tickets for about 3 other games and ended up selling them due to one thing or another).

The atmosphere is literally no better or worse than Goodison.

Anyone remembering GP as some cauldron of noise is lying to themselves. Yes it could be brilliant, most of the time it was flat.

Maybe because nearly all of it is in a pretty poor state of repair, pot holes all over the place and hardly any of it is level, due to years and years of HGV`s rumbling along it ?

Have you any idea how much the TdF transforms the route its going through?

Those problems would have been nothing to fix for a juggernaut event like this.

National funding would have been there for that.
