New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Does anyone else loathe the place over the road from the stadium on the Terry's Timber plot of land? I cannot stand the music they play from their speakers both before and after matches. Walking out of the ground today, on a cold winter's evening to hear music coming from that place was a dreadful experience.
I went in the other week it's like a pikey fairground . Never again .

it is a practice exercise in response to the Bradford City fire where fire escapes were unusable. Itsfor our safety, I can ignore it on that basis.
Thanks for the reply but can you expand on how it enhances safety?

Tbh I could understand it at Goodison, that was an old stadium retrofitted but this is a new stadium presumably built with all the lessons of the tragic Bradford City Fire in mind. If the current fire escapes are unusable in a fire I don’t know how the practice exercise will improve survivability?

If it is for staff training, couldn’t it be done before or after the game or during half time? If it for fans awareness I’m honestly not sure how it does anything?

Considering the history of football disasters linked to this city, the local safety board are quite strict on precautions, including safe exit.

I am slightly surprised that having a drill is even an issue with fans.

I find it hard to believe our precautions are stricter than any other of the top flight stadiums, but fair enough. Maybe they just give the announcement to the stewards another way.

it means that people are practiced in carrying out an emergency procedure (opening fire escapes, clearing passages, closing fire doors, unlocking through doors, closing kitchens down (making safe) etc so that when they have to do it in an emergency, they are well versed in what to do. Similar principle to aircraft pilots practicing on flight simulators. It means that any issues such as 'where are the keys for the joining doors between hospitality and gen admission' can be sorted before they are REALLY needed

I now work in the Health and Safety world, it really makes sense to test a safety system before it is needed

Thanks, guess I’m just surprised that if it needs to be done it isn’t something that can be done at half time or just before game kicks off.

Negative: Transfer budget blown printing these for Wednesday.
Positive: Another tifo display.

I think the whole point is that an emergency can happen during the game with the noise, bustle of a game and people doing their day jobs, moving it to a false or convenient time with give false or convenient results. Realism is key. For all we know, they may have been doing some of them via radio comms on other previous games and the PA announcement today is a practice of the back up if radio comms are down
