New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Also agree with the people who say going the match is becoming like an event. The days of leaving the house at 2pm to go the match and being home at 5.30 are gone aren't they.

It all feels like a big day out and that's not necessarily a good thing when you go 20 odd times a season 😢

I started going by myself in 02/03 aged 11 and it literally was just in and out for me at the match. Don't think it'd be possible with the transport now to do that.

Or have a 7-8 hour round trip each time. Certainly feels like a rush job every time

Getting in today was the worst I've known it. Getting through the dock wall at 2:30 the queues were horrendous, never seen it so bad. The metal detector single file thing is a farce. Does any other stadium do this?? Even when it goes off they don't actually search anyone, the whole thing is ridiculous.

First time in club view today on a friends ticket (swapped with my regular ST) and I would not be happy if I paid the extra £300 or so for it. Facilities no different to SE upper, and arguably worse as you're constrained to that concourse so can't get everything that is available in other areas of the ground. Nice view though.
Its about the view though i suppose as your on the Half way line aren’t you

The transport is undoubtedly a pain for the majority, however it's the whole 'feel' of things. Out of town security everywhere doing not a lot, queueing to get through metal detectors.

It's all just so different. Maybe it's just the way the world is now but going the match is becoming an all day event and when the team turn in displays like today, that can quickly and easily become a chore.

I got there at half two and was in my seat within ten minutes.

It was fine.

I’ve said it before - the stadium isn’t designed for last minute access. The days of rocking up 15 mins before kick off are gone. They want you on the plaza or inside spending money on their food and beer.

And they can shove that Budweiser DJ booth too!!

Maybe I was there at 2.35 then mate and not half past but the queues to get in the dock wall at that time were certainly not fine. They were a joke.

It's the first time I've seen it like that so I'm not saying it is the norm but they ramped it up today for some reason

I understand that and maybe I'm a dinosaur who doesn't want to move with the times! It just all feels very 'American' to me.

Very true. I think it's obvious that modern day sport is designed to get you in and around the stadium spending more money than you used to. A state of the art stadium is just a huge change from where we were. Doesn't help that Goodison was easy to get dropped off around and picked up from relatively compared to now.
