New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

They were not on the original drawings in that position of the stand, I think they look awful and are affecting the crowd - they seem way too large for the number of people in them.

We can't be branded as ableists as they should always be allowed to sit where they want depending on where available.

But do they really want to sit below pitch level? And if so, behind the goals of all places where they're very likely to be smashed by of our strikers 90mph shots blasted at them?

Why not be places on the east and west? stands if so?

Are the people asking for these areas to be converted to seats/safe standing prepared to sit/stand here themselves ?

Think the reason those spaces for disabled fans looks so big is there is also a general access route for all fans at the back of them.
I’d always thought they were too big / looked odd and suggested a row of seats along the back wall to up the ratio of disabled to abled positions above 1:1, but having seen them in person, the back wall appears to be a walkway / general access route for adjacent seats, not just the disabled section (at least the ones in the north stand are)
Don’t think it’s a great bit of design personally, but as has been said already, they might not look so conspicuously large if they weren’t just grey concrete.

If I remember rightly, originally, the disabled section for the South stand were supposed to be at the back of the safe-standing in the corners. The whole corner design was rationalised at some point and they were brought down to pitch side instead. An inferior view and more exposed to the weather.... but possibly a cheaper construction solution. Level 2 concourse offers a flat access to disabled sections on the side stands, so it might still be possible to relocate these disabled sections to those corners, and reinstate safe-standing to pitch level behind the goals. Obviously, it would also require disabled toilets on level 2.

Not the right thread I know and apologies. But stumbled across this on YouTube. An absolute banging version and brought tears to my eyes. I was privileged to be there that day and as much as the HDS is absolutely stunning, it’s still heartbreaking to me that I’ll/we’ll never ever, experience this ever again 😢

Paint the grey concrete blue and you go a long way to improving this.

Thank you. That was the suggestion I just made above regarding having all south stand accessibility platforms on one side of the goal.
Food for thought that. You could possibly move all the accessible seating into one area without losing any numbers. Would depend on the area footprints.

Regarding the accessibility platforms: it's not a perfect example I know because it's not a platform but ground level, but at Brighton's ground you can see what can be done in terms of integration of those sections when you just make the simple choice of making the background blue like the rest of the terracing.

100% this. Would stand out far less and have no impact whatsoever on the ability of disabled fans to be close to the action in those sections, problem solved. I think a lot of blue paint in various places could really minimise the concrete. I'm no design guru, but while steel and glass can contribute to a nice industrial aesthetic the exposed concrete just looks dull and unfinished. I'm sure its the little touches like this that will be considered and added over time.......only took us 20 odd years to take down the mis-shaped 70's badges off the side of the main stand

While they are are at it, they could do one of two things with the dividing wall in the south stand that would create the illusion of the initially promised single tier stand and make it look a lot better.

Either complete the full wrap around of the video screens, and before and after the game they could be extra advertising. But during the game display a random hodge podge of appropriately sized heads that would create the illusion of a single tier. Or just paint a load of head shaped splodges on the wall for a cheaper solution. Piece of cake this stadium business 😎
