New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Three things on the accessibility platforms:

1/ it's more a cosmetic issue: get the walls painted blue and get Everton badges on them and that doesn't become as much of a distraction

2/ get the small army of hi-viz jacket wearing coppers and stewards out of there that make it even more of a distraction from the game

3/ if you notice the accessibility platform on the 'west stand side' of the goal is not as large - there's room enough to have all accessibility platforms in the south stand on that other side of the goal going toward the west stand - is there any reason to not have them all together?

Overall: we have to avoid making people who use those platforms feel like they're a hindrance to the generation of atmosphere.

Disabled people should have the opportunity to watch the match from viewpoints that many of us take for granted, inclusion is important.

Yes!

And the club have a responsibility to them to make them not feel like they're sticking out like a sore thumb - they can do that by camouflaging those platforms a lot more than they have done. You couldn't blame anyone disabled who's on those south stand platforms if they felt awkward about their lack of visual integration into the south stand.

I don't think they do feel awkward mate, I think they love being more immersed in the action and have read reports from disabled supporters saying how much more a "part of everything" they feel just by the accessibility of the concourse.

The concrete needs painting blue though.

Yes, but a lot of people highlighting the platforms as an issue will eventually filter through to them.

It's the club's responsibility to make the terracing look as seamless and as fully integrated as possible.

The club worked with the Disabled Supporters Association to make sure fans were given the chance to be seated where they wanted to be, it's been a hugely positive thing, unlike other parts of going the game for disabled fans since we moved, so I very much doubt any complaints from people regarding the aesthetics or the atmosphere will have any effect tbh.

Ok. But this misses my point. The club can make it a non-issue for all by applying some common sense in terms of dealing with the stark contrast of blue being broken up by a garish cement grey colour. Just slap down blue paint on the walls and mesh of the acccesability platforms on all sides of the stadium upper and lower deck and we're all good.

Not exactly rocket science like is it?

Yeah it definitely needs painting - all the concrete and the rails in the ground stand out. Hopefully we'll see some work done in the summer and it'll look a bit better next season.
