New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I might proffer a suggestion that as we find ourselves solidly mid table this year there is not much to drive the atmosphere in HD. Gone are the relegation six pointers, the blue s,oke, the kids and dogs - thankfully!
Hopefully the clubs idea to let people move their season tickets will help as will some more performances against the big X when they come to town.

How about a stadium reboot?

It'd be nice if next season the following was in place for August:

1/ Everton's name to be featured prominently on the exterior walls - west stand and east stands

2/ EVERTON and the club badge and / or motto to be spelled out on the seats of the stadium

3/ Three or four statues of the club's legends to be placed around the stadium - apart from behind the north stand which is a God-forsaken place fit only for away supporters

4/ Take the ambulance chasers lettering off the south stand and place it on the north stand glass exterior - so their name is at least backgrounded by the Mersey and the world famous Liverpool skyline

I dont think that's too much to ask is it...given that fans will be paying every last penny of this £800M stadium in one way, shape or form?

I think on the seats / EFC thing, they’re hamstrung for the Euro’s, with how UEFA have control over the branding and sponsorship at the stadiums while the tournament is on.
We know that Hill Dickinson will be either be removed or covered up on the outside of the stadium while the tournament is on.

I dont think UEFA are the sticking point.

I mean will any other English stadium be forced to cover up their seating?

We are mate sadly. They mentioned it on the stadium tour, would have to cover seats etc.

Another reason for you to slate the owners Dave well I never

Most likely as much to do with training the AI model as actual police work.
LFR (Live Facial Recognition) really doesn't use much in the way of AI. Essentially you upload a database of people you're looking for, and then the cameras scan for possible matches, and alert the response team to apprehend and verify. Where you might use AI is in the prediction of where best to deploy etc. Technology of course is advancing at pace, and other parts of the world are already using drone technology with LFR. In China in some cties, you pay for using the metro by LFR (even if wearing a face mask).

LFR was first trialled in the UK when they set up cameras outside East Croydon railway station. They uploaded 60 photos of wanted serious offenders (think murder, assualt, dealing, trafficking etc. rather than stole a loaf of bread to feed the kids), and I think from memory they got 13 people in 3 days.

It is of course hugely controversial. Normally in UK when LFR is deployed in public, the police voluntarily display lots of warning signs that you are "entering an area subject to LFR" - and if you ever see the vans they use, they're obvious. The tactical units could of course do it very covertly, like they did in the E. Croydon trial. It was NEC that did most of the implementation for the UK.

From Everton's perspective, I don't know how many fans are subject to banning orders, but it would be easy for the club to use the technology at the wall gateways rather than have the Police do it. Not sure what they would then be able to do other than "report" anyone for attempting to breach the ban. It wouldn't have any impact on the access to the stadium as these systems can scan hundreds of faces simultaneousy, and transaction time in checking against the hot list is microseconds.

Using a ‘machine’ to cross reference / recognize features from an existing data set is in itself artificial intelligence no?

Facial Recognition technology uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify individuals in a digital image (such as a video or photo). This technology relies upon an algorithm which is trained to detect what a face is, and will then be trained to recognise faces and to distinguish one facial image from another. It does so by measuring distinguishable features of an individual’s face. This creates a unique code, known as a ‘face print’ or ‘biometric template’ from a photo or video. Live Facial Recognition (LFR) uses this technology to assess real-time, live video footage of crowds who are passing a camera and automatically compares the images of those in the crowd against a database of people on a predetermined database of images, known as a watchlist.

Forces tend not to lean too heavily into mentioning AI in relation to LFR maybe because:

Under the AI Act in Europe, authorities’ use of live facial recognition is generally prohibited and limited only to exceptional circumstances, such as preventing an imminent terror attack, where safeguards apply such as a clear legal basis in national law and judicial authorisation.’
