I still don't see why it's relevant to the points I made.“In July 2016, he replaced Sam Allardyce as manager of Sunderland, but resigned at the end of the 2016–17 season after the club was relegated to the EFL Championship.”

He got a relegation tune out of them with his negative expectations and tactics.a manager who has lots of PL experience, who has taken on struggling clubs before and got a tune out of them, who can work with limited resources bu
I didn't say anything about his tactics or suggest he was guaranteed to keep us up.He got a relegation tune out of them with his negative expectations and tactics.

Nobody cares about the style of play if its not paying dividends. Yes it would be great to play exciting football but not at the expense of results. All I remember when I think back to the Martinez is feeling endlessly frustrated that the manager was so inflexible that he'd sacrifice the general wellbeing of the club purely so he could keep playing his way even when it obviously wasn't working.Regardless , the quality of football was superior to a the majority of Moists long tenure , hence the banners proclaiming the return of ‘the School of Science ‘
He definitely benefited from Moyes’ defensive discipline , and the wheels came towards the end of the season, But that was inevitable with a change of style and insufficient funds to support it.
Also emphasises the need for the DoF role to curate and support managerial change, either through maintaining style or ensuring any change is fully supported via personnel management.
We've had Ancelotti when we were a basket case too. Some people on here live in a fantasy world. Most top coaches aren’t taking our job as it stands. So instead they’ve brought in a recent European trophy winning manager who they know can hit the ground running and has recently helped rebuild a club from relegation strugglers into a European regulars and winners.
I care about the style of play actually .Nobody cares about the style of play if its not paying dividends. Yes it would be great to play exciting football but not at the expense of results. But, to address your point, he stopped us being relegated in his first season with us and did the same with West Ham (twice).
I'll follow your advice.Mate you can't talk to people that don't want to listen. I honestly think most of the moyes supporters now are those that aren't old enough to appreciate things.
West Ham's squad was way above relegation material. They were European trophy winners remember.......so keeping them up was never a thing.
I've been paying to watch football long enough to know that people remember winning games long after they've forgotten how we played on the day. I remember so many moments going absolutely mental with mates and family when we scored and won games. I couldn't tell you what the style was like or how we played for most of them. I want to see Everton win and nothing else. I couldn't care less how we get there.I care about the style of play actually .
It’s a spectator sport at the end of the day .
I enjoy watching good football.
Wierd aye?
It’s even better when you are challenging at the top of the league.
Funnily enough , most successful clubs play a brand of good football.
It’s almost as if trophies and medals are accrued by the practice of pursuing sporting excellence?
Perhaps we should invent a trophy for survival ?
The ‘Magificent Seventh Cup’ perhaps ?
