It would just prove to me the people in charge at everton don't have a clue wtf their doing and Marcel brands might as well not be in the job because hes either incompetent or unable to do his job, whichever way it is if I was him id walk if they appoint Rafael while he still has some credibility left.
Brands should decide our style of play and formation bring in players to play it and a manager who can manage it. That way when the next manager goes hes easily replaced and will have players who suit his system because he'd suit our system and we'd have a team of player who suit that system.
As opposed to now where every manager we bring in plays completely differently and needs a completely new starting 11 each time.
Moshiri needs to leave his checkbook in brands office then koff away from the football decision side of things because its starting to feel like we're nothing but a play thing atm
Brands isn't a coach, and I don't think you get many DoFs being that hands on. His role, as far as I understand the general remit, should be to oversee recruitment of both players and coaching staff, and ensure the manager/head coach is the right individual for the job. There might be a sense of style that informs the recruitment, but formations etc. are down to managers.
There also seems to be some assumptions as to what Brands might/mightn't want as a manager that I'm not entirely convinced by. Ancelotti was, of course, not his call, and yes, he wanted to give Silva more time, but at AZ he hired the high profile van Gaal after he'd flopped at Barca and had a brief and toxic time as technical director at Ajax. He also had a role in appointing Dick Advocaat at PSV, who left for the Russian job before Cocu came in - and Cocu, who was excellent at PSV, has since had catastrophic stints at Fenerbahce and Derby. It's hard to know what Brands might see as a good appointment - we can only say that he's had a couple of historic successes that are quite different in context. It seems more clear that Moshiri is employing a DoF without adhering to a DoF model.
Otherwise, I agree: for all this talk of 'six managers since Moshiri', the reality is that Unsworth, Ferguson and, essentially, Allardyce were all caretakers. Koeman, Silva and Ancelotti have been his appointments. The first of those was a mistake we're still paying for, the second - a reaction to the first - was also a mistake, while the third was an opportunistic move that has ultimately fallen apart through little fault of our own (although I personally didn't see anything in 18 months to suggest Ancelotti was much of an improvement on what had come before). Brands should be trusted to make the call this time.
